Birthday Parties

Birthday party and a new baby

Hello,
I do not post here, but I hope you can help me. I am due to have baby number 2 on Jan 16, via c section. My dd will be three in Jan 20. I am due to come home that day. I cannot really give her a party that day, so I was wondaring what you will all do. I can give her a party on a different weekend, she wont really know and have the grandparents come over. She cannot have a full blow party with an infant. I am just worried she wont have a great birthday. Any ideas are welcomed.

thanks very much

Can you have the party BEFORE the baby is born? I'm very much of the opinion that the older child shouldn't "lose out" because of a new baby...

My second lo is due 6 days before DD's third birthday. I figure we will celebrate a few weeks early with a big party and do something just the four of us on her actual birthday.

  • Eh, at 3 I wouldn't stress too much about it.  Have a small family party and call it a day.

  • You can definitely have a party with an infant.

As young as they are, some streamers and balloons go a long way. They don't care about themes, matching, coordination... that's all for you. (Even though it is fun!) DS1's first birthday party fell on his actual birthday but the others, we have always had it the Saturday/Sunday prior or after and then on his actual birthday, did a little something for home at him to make him feel special. They don't have a concept of an actual date of their birthday.
