Anyone ever make hot chocolate with a twist?

We always celebrate Christmas Eve with my inlaws but this year our church is having a service (FIL is a Pastor) so they're coming over after the service.
MIL suggested making hot chocolate and she'd bring some small bites to nibble on while we open gifts.

Is there anyway to make hot chocolate fun? Aside from the usual topping (marshmallows)... anyone do anything to liven them up a bit?

It's so damn hot here we rarely ever drink hot cocoa but it's supposed to drop into the 40s tomorrow night so it warrants some warm drinks!

I add alcohol...peppermint schnapps, vanilla, whipped, or caramel vodka, or Baileys/Kahlua

Or, if you're wanting something G rated, add some cinnamon and vanilla

For the drinking adults, I add Bailey's. For the non-drinkers, maybe do something fun like peppermint straws.

A hot chocolate "bar" would be fun - people can choose their own ingredients.

Or chocolate covered marshmallows...you could do an assortment of peppermint candy/graham crumbles/sprinkles/etc and put them on a peppermint stick or straw so people can stir them into the hot chocolate

I was going to suggest the same as Loki. We did a hot chocolate bar last year that was a huge hit. For alcohol we had peppermint shnapps, kahlua and bailey's.

Alcohol sounds so fun but my ILs don't drink so I'll have to make it all G-rated.

We add those flavor coffee creamers to ours. Super yummy. I love the idea of a hot chocolate bar.

Those ideas all sound amazing but I can't get over the thought of 40 degrees being considered cold! It is -20 here today...brrrr! One other little hint for you is if you don't feel like making the hot chocolate they make little "K cups" of the yummy goodness for the keurig if you have one. Also, if you are on Pinterest, there are good recipes for making it yourself. Search "adult hot chocolate"
