Washing bottles in dishwasher??

Hi ladies. I wasn't sure where to post this, so I decided to ask in this board, being that my LO will be 12 weeks next week. I recently purchased an Avent bottle sterilizer. It came with a dishwasher tray to wash baby bottles and pacifiers, but I thought I couldn't wash them in the dishwasher because the last time I did, the nipples and bottle turned yellow. What am I missing?

    Maybe run your washer with nothing in it a couple times to clean it? I have washed ours in our washer and had no problems with it. GL!

    Eta- I just read that it could be from the heat in your washer as well. If the nipples/bottles are BPA free, they'd still be safe to use even if yellow tint.

    Run dishwasher magic or white vinegar through your dishwasher. Also, check the filter (if it's removeable) or have a service person out to clean a built in filter.

    How hard is your water? You can find out by taking a sample to Home Depot or Lowe's. They will test it for free.

    Hard water can cause discoloration but a dirty filter as well.

    Sometimes they can turn color if u washed with sauce dishes... Takes several washes to get rid of tint

    I'm not sure about the color, but I always washed bottles in the dishwasher with DS1. And I never sterilized except before the 1st use.

    We use Dr. Browns and I always run the bottles through the dishwasher without any problems. Nothing turns color and they come out fine. I even put my Medela pump parts (all parts including bottle) in the dishwasher too and have no problems. Our dishwasher is brand new so it must be pretty effective/work well and I have never had the issue you have. What liquid soap do you use in your dishwasher? Maybe that's the problem, who knows.
