FTT

Has anyone LO FTT due to allergies. I think LO has MSPI and finally got put on Elecare due to no weight gain and being sick all the time

at 6 months is only 12 lbs and still in Newborn/ 0-3 month clothes. He has been on two different formulas along with Breastmilk. He has only gained 2 lbs since 2 months old.

DD was at her 4 yr old check up. She had outgrown her dairy allergy so the pedi suggested Pediasure. Unfortunately, the dairy was too much and gave her stomach aches. The pedi basically told us to give her whatever she wanted to eat (even if it was total crap food) just to get her to eat and put on weight. She just isn't an eater. Finally the pedi backed off and realized that DH and I are both small so DD is just going to be petite. As long as she is eating a healthy, balanced diet he's not going to stress as much over the weight.
At 6 mo are you able to introduce some solids? What does the pedi/allergist/gastro say?

I'm waiting to for the Pedi to refer us to the GI doctor. Pedi said to wait on solids so he could get the calories from BM/Formula.

I think they are! We will see when we get into the GI Dr. next month.

When ds2 was a newborn he wasn't gaining weight.  When I took him off the milk based formula and put him on soy formula he started gaining weight. Then I was told to treat him as milk allergic due to his reactions at 3-4mo.  At 4-6 months, I started noticing minor reactions to the soy formula so when the dr diagnosed FTT at 6 months we started supplementing bm with Nutramigen but he reacted to that as strongly as he did to regular milk based so now he's on Neocate.  FWIW, I've been milk free since ds2 was 3 weeks old.

I did weighted feedings after his 6mo checkup and discovered that ds wasn't transferring much and wasn't cueing hunger so I put him on bottles/feeding schedule.  I think feeding him on the schedule with bottles during the day (I pump what I can and supplement with the rest -- usually 3-6oz of formula per day) has helped as much as changing him to the Neocate.

Ds2 was also around 12lbs at 6 months (was 5lbs14oz at birth) and was up to 14lbs7oz at his 9mo check up.

    I think it's related too.

Oh wow my DD is almost exactly like yours for weight (except a little less for 9 month).

Mine has been to nutritionist, allergist, endo. She lost a lot when sick so we will see if pedi sends her to gi now. The endo did blood work and she is absorbing they said. They did her bone age too

She eats a ton of food. She is on higher cal concentration of Nutramigen too.
