Nursing pad Recs?

My best friend used the udder cover ones, but I know I've seen ladies say the bamboobies ones are great. Do you guys have experience with either? Any other ones you'd recommend?

Re: Nursing pad Recs?

  • I ended up with samples of both so I'm just going to see which I like better.  For me the key will be finding something that doesn't make my nips itchy.

  • With DS I used the Johnson's disposable ones. I tried all of the re-usable pads and leaked through them every time. All of the other disposables were big, itchy and uncomfortable. That's just me though.

  • After 15 months of nursing I still couldn't use the reusable ones without leaking through them during the day. The Lansinoh were the best for me as far as disposables, never had an accident with them except the first night that he slept through the night. Maybe get yourself one small package of disposables in case you are a big leaker like myself.
  • I love my bamboobies. They are really soft, and I never had an issue with them feeling wet or leaking. I found them to be a great deal more comfortable than any of the disposable brands that I tried.

  • As far as disposables go, Johnson's were my favorite. The others were scratchy and made me break out. I'm trying cloth this time around, but I have no idea how it will work.

  • I was a leaker, so disposables were all I could do. Lansinoh ended up being the best ones for me.

  • Thanks ladies for the input. I shall give disposables a try!

  • Lansinoh had the best shape for me, I found the Johnsons & Johnsons ones to not be curved enough, so they would get folds and show through my shirt.  Lansinoh also are individually packaged, which is nice to throw in the diaper bag.  The J&J ones are not so I'd have to throw them in a ziploc bag so they wouldn't get demo'd in the diaper bag.

This time around I'm trying out some La Leche League re-usable ones.  The one PITA with the disposable ones for me was the sticky would sometime come off of the bra, and then get stuck to my breast which was plenty painful to pull off. I'm hoping these will work out. If not I'll be going back to the Lansinoh ones.

  • My favs were always the lansinoh ones, but I bought some reuseable bamboo ones this time and hoping those will do the trick.

  • I liked the NUK ones. I hated any pad with a plastic liner--too much moisture going on in there for me. I had a vicious let down the first time around so I always had extras nearby.

  • @blondie7385 - The disposable ones have a waterproof backing, so double layering wouldn't work.  For the re-usable fabric ones, doubling up may work, but I would imagine they would show through your shirt.  I'd rather just have to change them out a couple times a day than doubling them up.

  • @blondie7385 - yep, pretty much the same thing, just cut to a different shape and generally a lot thicker than the equivalent panty liner would be for the same absorbency.

Also, I had a lot more luck with the disposables NOT using the adhesive. I just stuck them in my bra without removing the strip and they seemed to stay put a lot better and I never had trouble with them sticking to my nipple.
