Miscarriage

Well I am fairly sure that I miscarried yesterday. I had a sudden gush of bright red blood accompanied by some mild cramping that passed fairly quickly. I had some brown blood yesterday and now all of the bleeding has stopped. However this combined with my ultrasound on friday, I'm 99% sure that I miscarried. I am a bit frustrated by my OB office as they won't see me until after Christmas. It just sucks because I'd feel a lot better if I just knew 100% you know? Just as I was getting used to the idea it was taken away. But I am staying positive as at least I was able to get pregnant on my own, and I have two beautiful babies at home that make me smile and laugh and feel blessed each and everyday day. Maybe someone upstairs knew that a baby just wasn't in the cards for us right now so I just have to find peace in the fact that this was meant to be. However what would you ladies do about an ultrasound? I found that with my twins, this OB office (which I eventually left because they wouldn't give me an ultrasound and we ended up having complications with the babies) so I'm just a little weary of the fact that hey won't even give me a blood test or ultrasound to confirm a miscarriage before the holidays. I just want to enjoy Christmas and not have this on my mind anymore. My appointment on Thursday isn't even for an ultrasound it's just a follow up with the doctor. So what is she even going to. Be able to say without doing something more involved? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'm sorry you are going through this. Is your appointment the day after Xmas? I would probably wait it out. That ER bill would just be another knife in the wound for me.

Hugs mama. Maybe call to have a blood draw done on Mon at the very least so when you meet with dr on Thurs your appt wont be a total waste.

I am so sorry, huge hugs. Can you call your RE? If you explain things to them they would probably at least do an HCG test for you and I would imagine an ultra sound if you begged. REs seem to be a little more understanding to the emotions involved.

Thanks ladies. I haven't seen our RE in about 2 years so I'm not quite sure if she would even do a draw or us for me. Also it's an hour away and with family duties on Monday there's no way I can get there. Hopefully when I call the office Monday they'll at least get me in for a beta draw. I looked for an urgent care in my area but unfortunately there wasn't much to choose from. Thanks for the support.

Do you have a separate primary care dr? They may be able to order a blood draw....I know it's not the same as an ultra sound but it may help ease your mind going into the holiday....I would have to imagine that after you tell them you were bleeding they may be more accommodating to help....at least I sure hope!

My first thought would have been ER as well. But that might be too pricy. I can't imagine not knowing, that must be so hard. Sending T&P your way.

Thanks ladies. I'm going to be more insistent on Monday. Perhaps I will call my primary as well although I have a feeling they'll just reroute me to my OB. Ugh just wish I knew for sure especially with the holidays. Oh well. The babies are keeping my mind occupied and I'm feeling better.

I'm so sorry. I ended up at the ER with my m/c, but only because the OB said to go if I passed a clot larger than a lime. They did an exam, blood work, ultrasound, and I got my RhoGam shot. I followed up with my OB a few days later and they also did an u/s to make sure all of the tissue had passed. I also had blood draws every few days until it was down to 0. That would be my big concern in your case, I didn't need a D&C, but the ER doc said it was imperative that my OB monitor the progress to ensure I had passed everything. It seems like yours should do the same.

I'm so sorry. Not knowing must be incredibly difficult. It may not be the most morally sound thing to do, but I would consider calling your OB on Monday and lying. Tell them you are bleeding then. My OB always gets you in for an exam, blood work, and/or an US the same day if you are bleeding.

I am so sorry hon. If it was me, I would want to know before the holidays because if it was a m/c I would want a big old glass of wine. I am so upset that your OB wants you to wait until after Christmas. I would not go back there. The ER would probably be a zoo and miserable wait. I don't know the best solution but I hate this for you. (((((Hugehugs)))))

I agree with everyone else with regards to at the very least get a beta test done. If you did miscarry you want to be certain your numbers are going down and that you don't retain any tissue. Your primary doc could order that, or go to an urgent care.

Once you know your numbers are declining you can always use home pregnancy tests to confirm when they are back down to basically nothing because you'll get a negative test.

I'm very sorry for your loss.
