Ergo infant insert

in January 2014 Moms
For any mom's who have used the Ergo from birth with the infant insert, did you wash it before the baby came?  I've been working on getting everything washed, and had planned to wash the insert, but then the instructions cautioned against washing it too often, so I decided to hold off.  Google seems to be a mix of washed it and didn't wash it.  What are your thoughts?

    I didn't wash the cushion part, but I did wash the part the wraps around the baby.

    When you say the cushion part, do you mean the little pillow that comes out at the bottom? I was going to forego washing that as well, seems like it would be difficult to dry, and the baby's skin wouldn't be directly touching it.

    Not a STM but I am a germophobe. I went ahead and washed it. Since it's only $25 on Amazon I'm just the kind of person who would rather wear it out washing too much and then just buy a new one. But not everyone is as crazypants as me!

    Yep! That's exactly why I didn't wash it :)

    Good call, I'm the same way but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to completely mess it up if I wash it (and also found something online about it being pre-washed, so I wasn't sure).  I did buy a laundry bag like the instructions suggest, so I will go ahead and wash it without the cushion, and hope for the best!

    I didn't put it in the dryer, I guess maybe that's worth mentioning. I always feel like my dryer is rougher on things, anyway. My washing machine is just the builder grade one that came with the house but I trust its gentle cycle. :) The laundry bag is a great idea I might have to get one of those!
