Dd has cold started last night... Right now runny nose and cough (no fever) When do u go to dr? In just worried bc the next 2 days are holidays so if she gets worse it wouldn't be til the 26th...just don't wanna go in and it's just a cold and they can't do anything...

Have you tried the nose Frieda? If she's congested, that works a lot better! IMO- I would just bring her ASAP to see what the doctor says in case something more is going on with her. Could you call your nurses line and ask their opinion maybe first? GL- hope he feels better quick!

I took my 12 wk old bc daycare couldn't take him and it gave me peace of mind his lungs and ears were clear but he pretty much told me to do exactly what I was doing! Elevate crib mattress, saline drops, bulb, and humidifier!
I really want to try the nose Frida can you get it at any stores???

Just went through this with my LO. He is 4 mo. Christmas Day. According to our pedi (actually 2 pedi's in the office looked at him), if the cold persists without fever over 10-14 days an antibiotic is justified. We are giving him ammoxacillin. It has made a huge difference. The Dr. said he had a sinus infection. I did get him checked twice. Basically, I went once each week. It wasn't necessary though. I wanted to make sure he didn't have an ear infection. He had been starting signs of one. If it has been under 10-14 days, pedi's state to keep using saline spray (before each feeding and at night), snot suckers, humidifiers, and vapor rub. Sit in a steaming bathroom for 15 minutes. Let them sleep elevated. Other than that, just time... Hope LO feels better soon!

OK. One more. I can't get my thoughts together this morning. Basically, definitely go to the Dr. if LO starts running fever, eating less, and sleep disrupted. By all means, if you feel something is wrong call the pedi asap.

Peace of mind is valuable.

This is true. If it persists more than 10-14 days (according to the AAP) it could be something more. Their pedi should direct them in the appropriate treatment. My LO never had fever, but he kept getting worse. We were on week 4, and it was beginning to impact his sleep and eating. My pedi (after a long conversation) stated he was comfortable Rx an antibiotic due to LO's problems. Pedi also stated I would know by the next day if the antibiotics was the right move. It was for us. I'm not an advocate for running to get antibiotics at every sniffle. Only use them when necessary!
