Swelling?!?

Hi Ladies!

I have a question about swelling. I am only 14 weeks but for the past 3 weeks or so I have been experiencing so much swelling in my pubic area. I did not have any swelling down there until my third trimester during my first pregnancy. I feel like it gets more swollen and more painful as the day goes on and especially if I am on my feet too long. The weird thing is that the swelling and aching is mostly on the left side. Is this normal? Has any one else experienced this? I won't be able to see my doctor until January now so I'm just hoping this isn't something to be concerned about. I know swelling and pressure is normal; but I thought that more so happened later! Tonight I am really noticing that it is so much more swollen on the left side, any idea why this would happen?

Thanks so much!! :)

Re: Swelling?!?

  • I haven't experienced that in my pregnancies but I would see if you can see the doctor sooner. Or just call to ask them this question. Good luck!

  • I was on antibiotics for a UTI 3 weeks ago, I just did a urine sample to retest on Friday to make sure the infection was gone but I haven't heard back from the doctor yet.

The swelling and the aching seems to improve when I'm resting. It really reminds me of the swelling I experienced in my third trimester last time but it just feels SO early for this. I'm also concerned that it seems to be more swollen on the left side than the right; I'm not sure why that would happen. I may phone my doctor tomorrow to see if he can see me before they close for the holidays, maybe that will ease my mind. Thanks for the replies!

In the meantime I would love to know if anyone else has experienced anything similar?
  • I was experiencing some vaginal swelling last night I had some bumps almost like pimples but no white head I could literally pinch the skin and feel a ball on the surface, I called my midwife and she suggested taking 1 25mg Benadryl to bring down swelling and or itching and 1 Tylenol for any discomfort she said also to pat a damp face cloth on the area instead of wiping after peeing and also to put a cold face cloth down there if that helps relieve the discomfort. She said if the swelling and pain didn't go away then she would suggest coming in to the office Monday to have it looked at to eliminate any concern of infection. I hope this helped! Good luck!
