Baby Names

Military Boy Names

I've been toying with looking into some suggestions that have having army/navy-related connections.

When you think of this, what names come to mind for you?

  • I just asked DH, who is an army vet. He said, "I don't know, George?" Ha, don't know where that came from. Then he suggested using the LN of a favorite chief of navy or army as a FN. But I cant condone that, as I generally don't like LNs as FNs.

  • I'd suggest looking into the histories for famous Army and Naval service members and possibily doing something with one of those names.

  • Damn @hisgirlfriday929 you win the fucking internet today. Knox and Lance are genius.  =D>

A lot of fellow Coastie wives go with Sailor/Saylor which is NMS but I get it.

Ulysses, Jackson, Garrison, Jett, Marine (I shit you not, Nameberry has this for a girl), March (hey we like August...).

  • My grandfather was a Korean War naval vet, which he was EXTREMELY proud of (and should be). His name was Walter which means "ruler of the army." Since DH isn't caving on using Walter, I'm looking to honor by trying to match the name meaning by something that was important to him.

That probably sounds like a stretch for honoring someone, but this is my compromise.

  • Totally get it....might be a tough sell though. I tried googling surnames of famous Army and Navy members but didn't get far. What about someone instrumental in the Korean War? Or the current highest ranking officer of the Navy?

My grandfather was called Mack in the Navy. However, he always told me it was because of his last name, which began with "Mc."
