I posted a while back I posted about not knowing how to handle Santa, since we'll be out of state on the 25th. Our first decision was to have Santa (in the form of my mom) come leave their gifts under our tree at home, since we can't possibly get them back on a plane. Then they would get home and find them. But the more I thought about it, I realized this was stupid. We won't be home until way past bedtime that night, and then they'll be tired and grumpy and it will be too late for them to play with any of them. Very anti-climactic.
We've been planning to do Mom and Dad gifts tomorrow, which they knew. So this morning, when they found our Elf, he was holding a note from Santa. It said that Presto told him we'll be in Kansas over the holiday, and since he has some larger items that will be hard to take home on a plane, he doesn't think he should leave them there. But, by a happy coincidence, he's taking the reindeer out for a test drive this very night and will use that opportunity to deliver them here. And he'll still fill their stockings and leave a couple other small surprises at Grandma and Grandpa's.
They totally bought it. It's not ideal, and I'm sorry they won't be waking up to a big haul on Christmas morning, be we have to fly back home later that same day and we can't let them get more than we can carry home.
This is the main reason I hate being gone for Christmas.

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
