Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

New to all of this

Hello ladies. First let me say I'm so sorry for all of your losses. I was not very far along when miscarried (4 wks 6 days) and I can not imagine the sadness that the rest of you must feel.

My husband and I went to my OB two days after I miscarried and he told us we should start trying again right away, the next time I ovulate. My OPK showed a peak day today (only 8 days after MC) and if we go by what the OB says we should try tonight. But it feels like if we try again today it's like my pregnancy never happened. It was only a week or so ago I was pregnant and now I'm not and we are trying again so soon. Has anyone else had their doctor say to try again so soon?

Re: New to all of this

  • I had a chemical pregnancy back in May. It happens when the egg fertilized but never implants into the uterus and is eliminated with menstruation. Since at four weeks the pregnancy hasn't altered your hormones or your body too much there is no reason why you should wait. After the chemical pregnancy it took me until October to get pregnant again. I say go for it, and good luck.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. If you and YH don't feel ready to try again, don't. While PP makes a good point - it could take a few months to get pregnant again - it may not. After my first loss at 10w in July it took us 4 months of trying to get pregnant again. That pregnancy ended in another loss, a CP in November. We tried again and I got pregnant again this month. That pregnancy, too, is ending in a CP loss.

So, my point is, who the hell knows how long it will take. But, what I do know is that the pain does not become less with subsequent losses. If you are to a point where your desire for a child exceeds your fear of another loss, and you feel ready to TTCAL, go for it. If not, there's always next month.

    ((hugs))
