Better sleep in the crib??

On top of waking up every hour (sometimes every 1/2 hour!!), Layla immediately wakes up as soon as I'm in the room to go to bed. She's sleeping in the pnp next to our bed. I know babies can smell mom from a short distance, and I'm wondering if that's keeping her from sleeping.
Has anyone's babies immediately slept better once in the crib, in their own room? She's sleeping in the Merlin right now too and I'm about to give up on that. It can't get much worse...yes, I know it can...but not a whole lot!! What's your experience?
Also, any babies sleeping at night in the carseat? I know it's not the preferred way...just curious.

Edit- no sleep= not being able to spell.

  • My LO transitioned perfectly from the pnp in our room to the crib in her room..I was super anxious on how she would do but it was great! I believe shes getting a better sleep without all our moving around and DH snoring :)

  • My DD1 definitely did better when she was not in the same room as me.

  • Not here, lol. Eli's eyes still shoot right open as soon as I lay him down. We got a sleep suit and were able to get about a hour a couple days ago, so that's some progress, right?

This. I'm keeping ds2 near me because im clearly a glutton for punishment.
     DS1 8/2011. DS2 8/2013.

  • The first two-three days of transition were rough but now she loves her crib and knows it is sleep time when she goes in it. EVERYONE is sleeping better, even with me sleeping with the monitor next to my face (mommy anxiety)

  • Haven't moved to her crib yet, we're still in the rNp but you made me realize a good point; maybe the mothers scent thing is why she always sleeps great thru the night for DH on nights I'm at work, and not as good for me. I'm thinking we may move to the crib soon. We do it for most naps now for the past 2 weeks or so and that's going pretty well.

  • He slept better in his own room, for sure. I think it's because he wasn't getting woken up by us getting up to go to the bathroom, moving around, snoring, etc.
  • Mine sleeps so much better in her own room...even if hubby and I are both asleep, I think if one of us rolls over or makes any sort of noise, she wakes up.

  • We moved LO from the PNP napper in our room to the crib on her room when she was 8 weeks old, and she did great from night 1. As others have said, she was no longer being woken by any noise we made. She also seemed to like having more space to spread out (she has never been swaddled because she hated it). The video monitor definitely helps with my anxiety!

  • Mom dad and baby all slept better after ds moved into his crib at 3 months! Wish I started sooner! Every week since has been better than the last. Good luck! It stinks not sleeping.

  • We all sleep better with LO in her own room. She has been in her crib almost since day one. She is a hand sucker, talker, and laughs in her sleep. There's no way that we ever would have been able to share a room for a long period of time.

  • LO slept really well in the RNP next to my side of the bed but he's doing amazing on his transition to his crib.  Just last night he slept for 11 straight hours.  Once they're ready for the crib, they'll do great.  You may want to give it a try.  If she's not ready, she's not - we had to try a few times with LO.

  • Both of mine slept better and longer when I moved them to the crib. When they sleep near or with you they hear every move you make.
