Sleeping on stomach

Does anyone know when we are supposed to stop sleeping on our stomachs?

Re: Sleeping on stomach

  • Once it doesn't feel good. I'm starting to hit that point.

  • Once it becomes uncomfortable. You won't want to sleep on your stomach anymore at that point. I remember a dull ache when I rolled into my stomach. Haven't had that feeling yet with this pregnancy.
  • Yep, you'll know when it's time to stop. I am a stomach sleeper... :(

  • What about your back? I read that can be dangerous.
  • Doc says stomach is fine til you find it uncomfortable. Back being dangerous is an over statement IMO but side is best.

  • your left side it's the best side when mega pregnant. there's major vessel or something on your right, and flat on your back can affect your breathing. that's if I remember correctly, I tend to mix info around in my head.

  • Sleeping on your back became uncomfortable for me about half way thru... prob because the baby puts so much weight on your spine.

  • I've been having pain in my lower back if I sleep on my left side, which I know is supposed to be the "best side to sleep". I've found that sleeping on my right side with a pillow between my legs (a co-worker's idea) is the only way I can wake up without being in pain. I'm only 10 weeks too/no baby bump yet. Ugh. Crazy.
  • I sleep on my stomach still but with a pillow propping up one hip, hard to explain, but Ive always done that bc for a couple years I didn't have a bed. But Im dyin to get a pregnancy pillow for when my belly gets big. Laying on your back CAN cut off blood flow to the baby so they never recommend that, but I always wake up on my back.
  • I already can't and it makes me sad. :( If it's not uncomfortable yet, it will be.

  • I sleep half on my stomach now. I didn't go on my back a lot last time, I was afraid to, but I think it's nearly the same, if you know it may not be good just pay attention to how you feel. It causes everything to press on a major vein/artery I think is why. Left is best because it works with your heart. However my hips were KILLING me last time and I was so tired to lay, is was so painful. I may have had other joint issues, though. A recliner works nice some nights.

  • I invested in a pregnancy pillow last time, and it was a lifesaver. I may just try a body pillow this time, since it is cheaper.

  • I started sleeping with my pregnancy pillow this week.  I haven't slept on my stomach since before DS (I've gotten used to side sleeping). I've definitely hit the uncomfortable point, though.
