Pregnant after 35

Intro- New here!

HI,

I'm 37 and this is my second pregnancy (well really third pregnancy) I have one adorable 13 month old Baby boy and I had a miscarriage before he was born. It is so scary being pregnant again but I am thrilled. I knew I didn't want to wait long because we wanted the opportunity to have a few. the past 13 months felt like forever :)

I am still pinching myself that I am actually pregnant and Plan to go to the doctor ASAP to make sure everything looks good and do bloodwork etc. I hope to go Monday or Tuesday.

Do your doctors tell you you are high risk because you are over 35? My sister had a baby last year in her 40's and wasn't considered high risk and I am considered high risk. I wonder if it's cuz I had a miscarriage or I've had high blood pressure in the past? Not sure...

Either way glad to be among mature adults here on this board.

H&H 9 months to everyone!!

Oh I'm 4 weeks not 97 weeks like my siggi says :)

  • I'm not considered high risk. However I have white coat hypertension so my BP is always high when in a doctor's office. I monitor it at home and depending on the doctor I see they like to see me every 2 weeks or once a month. I haven't had any extra testing other then the Panorama genetic testing.

  • I am 41 and my doctors have never classified me as high risk so I don't believe age alone puts anyone in that category. You just get the glorious advanced maternal age label :)
Welcome to the board and congratulations!

  • Well I really don't want to be high risk. My doctor tells me not to take the stairs and not to even go for a walk and I hate to be locked up inside for the next 8 months. I mean I'll do it but I prefer to be able to be part of civilization. He told me those things last time. I hope he will change his mind this time.

Thank you for all the warm welcomes. Now if I Only could get my signature to change and stop reading 97 weeks pregnant. That is just scary!! :)

  • Congratulations!  I am not considered high risk- just old ;)   My midwife does not treat me any different, or hasn't to this point, than any other pregnancy.  I hope you have a wonderful experience!
  • Hi! Congratulations! My doctor's office has treated me the same as everyone else. I'm 39 and am treated like any other expectant mom of any other age. It's been refreshing :)Best wishes to you!
  • My doctor told me that I can do exercise and take the stairs etc etc. I was thrilled. Then yesterday I had some brown spotting so now I"m back to no exercise, no stairs etc. So frustrating and scary!!!

Took my temperature this morning to make sure it was still high and it was 98.6 so that's a good sign. I plan to go for more blood work in the morning.

Thank you again for all the warm welcomes!
