Ratio of Santa gifts vs Mom&Dad gifts.

About how are you splitting the gifts from you vs gifts from Santa, and about how many gifts are you giving your toddler this year? Our son will be 4 in February and we have mostly got more small things and one bigger toy, most of them I was thinking would be from Santa. I was just curious how everyone else does it.

Santa fills the stocking and brings one gift. Anything else is from DH and me. This year the stocking has bath crayons, matchbox cars, and a puzzle. His Santa gift is a plasma car.

Santa is bringing the big gift and more of the toys. I didn't really go all out this year. We don't have the space and DD would much rather do arts and crafts or play outside than play with toys.

I wrapped the gifts from Santa in a paper that DS hasn't ever seen before and disguised my handwriting. Hahaha. That stuff obviously won't show up till Christmas morning. I wrapped the few things from DH and I and put the under the tree already. Except what I ordered online yesterday. Eek! This is DS's first year to really get Christmas and Santa and the whole magic of Christmas. I am so excited.

We say that Santa only fills the stockings. Everything else is from us. No way is Santa taking credit for everything! lol! Usually we open presents from us on Christmas Eve, and then she opens the stocking from Santa on Christmas Day morning. We also live far away from family so we get a lot of mailed gifts, which we put in a giant stocking and she opens those on Christmas Day too. Unfortunately this year DH is working on Christmas Eve past DD's bedtime so we may adapt our usual tradition.

DD is 2, so we got her a dollhouse and accessories (I am setting it up in her room when she is asleep so it will be the first thing she sees when she wakes up), some blocks and racetracks (she loves to play with cars), some books, a cute dress (which she won't care about), some pj's (she also won't care about) and that's it from us. In her stocking she's getting some candy, a stuffed animal, and a couple of My Little Ponies.

Growing up in DH's family Santa brought everything. Everything was wrapped as well. I am Jewish so we settled on that Hanukkah we will do the 8 gifts from us and then on Christmas it will be 2-3 gifts from Santa and the stocking.

The gifts are either from Santa or their grandparents. That was the way it was for myself growing up. In fact, my parents wrote from Santa on my gifts until I got married. : ) I don't need credit. I get enough satisfaction seeing my kids' faces on Christmas morning.

We celebrate St. Nicks so the kids get a shoe filled on the 6th and stockings on Christmas morning as well.

PS if we had done something like a plasma car from Santa, the stocking would lie on top or lean against it. That's how it worked for me growing up (but I had 3 siblings so you had to be a me to tell what was for each of us and that's how). My mom had VERY recognizable writing.

This is my first time posting here!
We went seriously overboard this year. DH insisted on more Santa gifts. We have about 5 Santa gifts, and a full stocking. We have about 6 gifts from Mom and Dad. DH's reasoning is it's our last Christmas with one child, and to do it while we can.

We're a little different since I'm Jewish and DH is Catholic. We celebrate both Chanukah and Christmas and I don't want it to seem like one is the "good present" holiday.

So we do 2 "big" presents, one at Chanukah, one at Christmas. (This year a skateboard and a bike). Then he gets smaller presents at Chanukah and a smaller present from Santa at Christmas (this year Santa is bringing a backpack).

We spend Christmas with DH's family, so Santa fills our stockings while we're out of town and we open them when we get home.

I wrap everything that can be wrapped. A xmas eve gift of pj's is from DH and I. We also have one of the bigger gifts on xmas day be from us. The stocking and the rest are from Santa.

No problem with giving Santa the credit.

This is kinda like us. For Hanukkah she got the loving family doll house and for the other nights different furniture sets/pieces. For Christmas from Santa she will have the stocking and then a princess doll and duplo set she wants. (The stocking will have movies though--Despicable Me, Little Mermaid and Annie---all movies that the family will enjoy.)

I don't really have a policy other than Santa brings the big gift plus fills the stocking. This year, he's getting his big present, a book, and 2 wrapped gifts from Santa and one from us.

We had Christmas with the ILs today and he crapped out after unwrapping two gifts, so I'm glad I went minimalist this year.

We do all girfts from Santa. It's the way I did it growing up. She is getting a board game, Minnie Mouse Pet bowtique, two more doc mcstuffins stuffed toys (hallie and squeakers), Little Mermaid, some gum and candy for the stocking, and some puzzles from us. We went small this Christmas, she really doesn't need more stuff. The in-laws are coming down (divorced) and FIL will have all his gifts from Santa, but MIL needs the credit so hers will be from her. We do christmas Jammie's the night before and sometimes a small toy, those are from us and given in a gift bag. It's the only "present" we will claim as from us.

Santa does the stockings and then the bigger gifts that we do not wrap - this year an Art Easel, Mickey Mouse toy bin and a Mickey Mouse chair. Then there will be a couple other smaller gifts that will be from Santa, like a car toy and the RC Planes toy, that will also not be wrapped.

I'd say it's about 50/50.

1 present from any person to any person, and that includes Santa. (We have bent the rules of this once, because the local craft store had some empty tins she wanted on sale and I put them under the tree. So that present is from the dog. :P

We keep it between 3-5 gifts plus little stuff in the stocking. The stocking and the big gift are from Santa. I just don't want my kids to be overrun with gifts. I was as a kid bc my evil step mother was trying to over compensate. I was actually tired of opening gifts as a kid. The focus will be on church and family and the true meaning of Christmas in our eyes. I'm sure presents might be the only thing our kids think about for quite a few years but they will eventually get it.

All Santa. It was always like that in my house. Anyway is fine but weird statement on "we work hard, I don't need someone getting all the credit". I don't need credit from my children- the joy on their faces Christmas morning is gift enough.

OP- I'm glad you asked this question! It has been so fun reading everyone's responses to see what others do. But I'm confused about all this credit stuff. Who cares where the presents came from? Definitely not a toddler.

Anyway, Santa fills the stockings and brings one big present and a few smaller ones. These aren't wrapped and are usually presents that would be a bitch to wrap. Then we do 1 outfit, 1 book, and then another small toy or two from me and DH. All presents from grandparents are from them, not Santa. It's not a matter of needing credit. It's just a matter of families giving gifts to each other to celebrate Christmas. We give gifts to those people too.

Half of our gifts were not even here due to UPS's failure.

So it looked like a pretty grim Christmas at least from Santa Claus/ mom & dad. DS made out really well from Grandparents and Great Grandparents alike. DH's mom's boyfriend though, made it clear that he "loves" DS by giving him 30 + gifts and still has more coming Sat. -_- Is that even okay? I kind of can't stand the guy anyway but really? I wish he would just go away.

Santa brings the boys one big combined gift, assembled and not wrapped (last year it was a Power Wheels Jeep and this year the KidKraft heroes fire station) and the rest (usually 7-8 smaller wrapped gifts for each of them) are from us.
