Re: Pronounce This & Opinion

  • You really need help pronouncing this? Just curious. Both names aren't really my style and IMO there's nothing interesting about those two names together.

  • I can pronounce Brynn just fine. It's Zoe that my husband and I are arguing over. He says "Zoh" and I say Zoey.

  • Haha!  That's funny.  Tell your DH you're right (again)!  ;)

  • Oh I will ;) He should know by now that I am right about 97% of the time LOL

  • Zoe is pronounced as Zoe. DD is Zoey because I couldn't convince DH to leave the "y" off, but it was my top name choice, so I conceded on spelling.

  • I pronounce this Zoh Ee.

But the responses here have made me curious. I do occasionally come across a Zoh and I always assumed that was just another legit way to pronounce the name. (Just like Anna is sometimes An Na and sometimes it is Ah Na.) So is Zoh wrong and a made up pronunciation? Does Zoh have no roots, etc?

I'm pretty sure the 2-syllable Zoh-ee is the only pronunciation--and the only one I can find on any site listed. We will occasionally call DD "Zo" as a nickname, but I can't imagine giving your daughter the same Zoe and pronouncing it like it rhymes with Joe. I guess, really, it should have the little accent mark with the 2 dots above the e, which is what technically makes it pronounced like that? But Zoe is Zoh-ee. I would side-eye the heck out of anyone who pronounced that as a given name of Zo.

  • Zo-EE Br-in. I like it!
  • Zoe is Zoh. If you want Zo-ee then I think you need to add a Y and make it Zoey. Cute name!
  • Zo-E Brin. Cute!

  • Zo-he and Br-in

I always preferred Zoey for spelling though, seemed more intuitive to how it's supposed to be pronounced. I like the name though a lot as a whole!

  • I think it's sort of cutesy, I can't picture it past preteen but I love Brynn. I've only heard it pronounced like Zoey except there is a campground called Camp Zoe and they pronounce it like it rhymes with Joe. I prefer the sound of zoh to zoh-ee but it'd cause a lot of pronunciation issues I think.
