Is this weird ?

I had a fall yesterday in the snow ( previous post ) and today my back and my arm are killing me. I went to work bc there was no one to cover my shift at the Lab but I could hardly work today my back hurt so bad. I am going to see my Dr tomorrow to see if he thinks my arm needs to be xrayd or if its just bruised, but I was also going to ask for a note to take Monday/Tuesday off work bc of my back. ( My work said no days off unless a Drs note is provided ).
Do you think thats a reasonable request or that hes going to look at me like Im crazy for asking??
My GF said that it was a weird thing to ask for from a Dr.......I have never thought about it before LOL

Re: Is this weird ?

  • I got a note from my Dr when I spotted to take a day off. Not crazy to ask if you need one for work.

Dr told me to take it easy and not work long hours. The one day I had to work from 7-9 at night would not be home til 10. 1 hr drive home. She gave me a note. No problem.

  • If you are having back pain, you won't be able to work at your normal level. I think asking for a note to take a few days to heal is fine. I think the only reason someone would question it is because of the timing with the holiday. Not your fault though! Feel better!

I know I hate that its right before the Holiday and they will prob be screwed but bending to reach patients and holding a needle with my hurt arm all day just about killed me today !  :(

  • Whenever I see a doctor for any sort of pain, or bring my sick kids in to the pediatrician, the doc always asks me if I need a note!

I dropped a 35lb. weight on my foot a few months ago and thought for sure I broke it. Went in to see a podiatrist and he offered me a note...I sit at a desk all day, lol.
  • I always feel weird asking, too, even though it's perfectly fine. Like I think I'm trying to get away with something.

I say go for it though. Hope you feel better!

  • I've gotten Dr notes several times for work. For spotting, for an actual miscarriage cause I just couldn't make it in emotionally...I even have a Dr note saying saying my weight limit is 25 pounds. I say if you need the time off to heal, why not ask for a note...the worst that'll happen is your Dr will say no

  • I don't see a thing wrong with this. Pregnancy is the time to take care of yourself and listen to your body if you need to. Don't feel bad.

  • I don't think that's an odd request at all. If your injuries are impacting your performance at work, I'd absolutely take some time off to heal.
