I realize I'm incredibly late to this party but I just watched it for the first time. Are child pageants really like that and more importantly are the moms really that crazy?!?

    I think they pick extra crazy moms to be on the show and also exaggerate a lot, but it is still crazy! I have watched most episodes (guilty pleasure, can't turn away!) and have only seen maybe 5 moms who are pretty normal and kids who actually like and want to do pageants. Most of the kids openly HATE doing them but are forced to. 

    I also want to know what normal people have $20,000 to spend on a 4 year old for pageants?? Especially if the child obviously doesn't like to do them! Crazy. 

    I used to babysit a little girl who EVERYONE said would be perfect for pageants. She just had the star personality. She loved dressing up and putting on a show. Her parents never wanted her to do pageants though.

    If I lived down south I'm sure I could make a killing in the pageant dress market.
    A lot of those people are crazy. There was one unfortunate girl named Rainbow Dash on one episode. I thought that was the name of a "My Little Pony."

    She was on the episode I watched and I thought the same thing!
