Gender surprise ruined?! ARG!

Hi all you beautiful mamas - sorry I haven't been on in a while - been swamped by work and overwhelmed with 1st tri yucks.

I'm 14 weeks now and my DH and I decided not to find out the sex of the baby - we just felt like we've been through so much clinical and scientific stuff, let's keep this one thing a surprise.

So, I had a CVS done just before Thanksgiving. Results came back normal, hallelujah. But, I elected to do a micro array analysis and something funky came up so we had to go in to see the genetic counselor. Our original one is on vacation, so we met with another one. The girl plunks down the genetic report on the desk and it has the sex of the baby on it in big all caps bold letters!!! I was so stunned and distracted --- I said to her, "is that the sex of the baby?! We didn't want to know." She apologized but we were so upset. I didn't want to rip into her, but the more I think about it the more annoyed I am. I mean, you're already delivering potentially upsetting news with the genetics and then you take away our choice of having the sex be a surprise?! Arg! Obviously, at the end of the day, all I want (and I'm sure everyone on this board wants!!) is a healthy baby, I don't care about the sex or the surprise being ruined if my baby is healthy. But still...!

DH - 41
IUI#1 with Clomid - BFN
IVF #1 -3d transfer of 3 embryos.  BFP.  Unviable HB at 6 weeks.  D&C at 8.5 weeks.
IVF #2 -5d transfer of 2 blasts. BFP. Low Beta HCG - did 5 beta tests over 10 days - RE concerned ectopic.  1st U/S HB 114! 2nd U/S HB 150! Graduated from RE 7 weeks 5 days (11/5).  First OB appt 8 weeks 4 days (11/11) - HB 170 and measuring exactly on schedule.  Phew. 
EDD 6/19/14.  Keeping every finger and toe crossed tight.

    Ughhh that sucks. Overall glad LO is doing good..
    TTC Since 112010 Naturally. Diagnose:PCOS(ME) + Low Motility(HIM). Started IVF+ICSI Cycle 12312. ER 27 & ET 210 two embies transferred. *BFN 1ST IVF CYCLE.* **Getting as healthy as possible and will try IVFICSI#2 again hopefully in April.** -- HAVE FAITH; LET GO & LET GOD --

    Maybe yours will be wrong like mine. Although I did want to know, I managed to still get a surprise at 20 weeks during the scan. I'm glad we found out when we did since my mom had just ordered all this girl furniture the day before...she was able to cancel the order :)

    So did the genetics info come back ok? Sorry about the whole gender thing. Id be livid. We didnt find out with DS and we are not finding out with this one and if someone blew it for me Id be fumming. Hugs.

    8/13: FET #1= BFN
    10/13: FET #2= BFP!!!

    I would have been really upset! Sorry you missed out on being surprised :(

    That really sucks that your surprise was ruined!  I would have been upset too.

    I can't believe she did that!! I would be pissed! I hope that whatever the funky thing was/is turns out to not be anything too serious.

    Me: 42. DH: 46.

    1st Pregnancy: MC, 11/19/00.

    2nd Pregnancy: DS born 04/10/06.

    3rd Pregnancy: CP, 03/11.

    4th Pregnancy: MMC, D&C 11/30/11, Genetic testing revealed Trisomy 4.

    5th Pregnancy: Ectopic, 2 doses of Methotrexate unsuccessful, surgery 4/10/12, right tube removed.

    Tried Letrozole January 2013-July 2013 (including 2 IUIs), all BFN.  After 2 1/2 years of trying for child #2, decided to "give up" after July cycle, based on AMA.

    August 16, 2013:  BFP our first month of "not trying!"  Still in shock.  Beta #1 (14dpo): 183.  Beta #2 (17dpo):  611.  Ultrasound 8/30/13: baby measured 6 weeks, 1 day, heart rate of 118 bpm! 
    Ultrasound 9/13/13:  8 weeks, heart rate of 176!
    Baby is due 4/26/14

    Oh I'm sorry! I can totally imagine how you felt. It's such a huge decision to decide to be Team Green  and then to have someone let it all out. Gah.

    I'm sorry too! Similar thing happened to me. Since we had preg genetic testing, our sex was also in our chart. We told our MD we did not want to know the sex, but when the embryologist called with an update on our embryos. It was the first thing he blurted out. Obviously nobody communicates! I think it is a big deal. Of course, doesn't make us any less excited, but I totally get it! It's big news and you want it the way you want it!

    We don't want to find out either, so I totally feel you.  I'm worried about the u/s tech or a doctor slipping after our 20 week u/s.  I would be so angry and annoyed, too, especially after everything we've gone through to get our babies!  Hopefully the rest of your genetic testing came out OK...
