sttn tally is still at zero

I was just trying to get a headcount how many babies have still yet to sleep through the night even once.. I'm not complaining because our current system works and we are happy and rested.. I haven't tried to push it or attempted any type of sleep training, I just keep telling myself that when he's ready he will sleep til tge morn and until then I just enjoy the extra snuggle time in the middle of the night... But I cant help wondering if anyone else is still at zero?

Re: sttn tally is still at zero

  • Here. Absolutely never ever. There are moms in my moms group who weekly bitch about how their 3-mo-old wakes up twice a night still. Twice a night is a good night for us and unlike you, it is not working for me and hasn't changed despite my best efforts. Oh, and hubby has handled ZERO night wakings, ever, so I'm losing my effing mind.

  • We aren't batting zero, but with only about 2 weeks total, spread out over the almost 12 months, it feels close to it! I really feel for you ladies and hope a peaceful night's sleep is in your future.

  • We are still up 1 to 2 times a night and still have streaks of worse nights. For this I am thankful, since we used to be up every 2 hours and I was going crazy. The only thing that worked for us was the Ferber method. It was a life saver. We are all getting some decent sleep now.
I understand how you feel. It seems as though everyone else's baby sleeps through the night. You're not alone.

  • yes I hear people say that their tiny babies are sleeping six or seven hour stretches and it makes me wonder what am i doing wrong... But I guess my guy just isn't into that yet...lol... And I'm a single mom so there's no dad here to take the night shift but even if there was my LO wont take a bottle! Lol... I think I haven't lost my mind because we co sleep and it seems like I'm sleeping more because I'm not actually standing up to get him out of the crib...I don't feel tired, but I do feel way dumber than any type of pregnancy brain!
  • Nope... And like OP, not really worried about it.

  • We have one time so add me in. We have had maybe three or four weeks total of waking one time a night spread out over the year, the rest has been two or more with two being average. I do worry about it but she does well during the day and I can't handle not going to her if she needs me at night so here we are. I am going to try moving nursing from last to earlier in our bedtime routine soon but other than that I'm going to wait it out.

  • DS wakes up every 3-4 hours, sometimes more. It sucks but I love our nightime cuddles.

  • I think we must have the same kid and same husband! The closest I've gotten is after her first swim lesson she slept until 4 am which had me in HEAVEN!  On average it's at least twice a night, but it can be a lot more depending on if she's feeling sick or not, her mood etc.

  • Maybe twice when he was younger? We are up to four or five wakings a night, and I thought it was bad at two or three!!

This is us. DH and I take turns being the one on baby duty....depending on who has to get up earlier for work. If we both get up around the same time I get baby duty because he works a 12, but he always takes baby duty if he has the next day off and I work. I'm grateful for the help and praying this little kid STTN soon because I want to start TTC in a couple months!
  • My baby is STTN. BUT it's temporary and has nothing to do with my parenting ability. All my babies start STTN early but as soon as they hit 4 months it all goes to hell. So I'm trying to soak up the sleep for now. Once we hit the 4 month mark I know she will likely start waking up 3-4x a night until she is 12 months or later. I don't have any advice other than you will survive it and it won't last forever.

  • Nope not STTN here yet. She still wakes up usually twice a night. It doesnt bother me too much, I think I am use to it . My son didnt start STTN till he was 1 , so I am hoping she will follow that trend.
  • Mine has consistently!!!! Oh wait, that was over 7 months ago and short lived.  I haven't slept through the night since May.

  • We hadn't STTN until about a week and a half ago. I'm hoping it sticks!!

  • Gosh, can I just say this thread has really helped me feel less like there is something wrong with our picture? We haven't and won't be doing any kind of sleep training. He has JUST started sleeping through the night and his first birthday is tomorrow, but it's still not 100% and sometimes we still co-sleep most of the night. I can probably count on one hand the number of times it's happened so far.

Ferber was a life saver for us too. He sttn for months but then stopped and was awake more than asleep most nights. We got to 2-3 wake ups a night but it wasn't good enough since DH and I both work. Since Ferber he sttn most nights, and when he doesn't I only have to do 1-2 check ins before he gets himself back to sleep. I know it doesn't work for every baby or family and we did a modified Ferber ourselves since I wasn't great at not snuggling him to sleep, but it worked!

  • For the first month of life she'd sleep a six hour chunk. Now? Nothing doing. We are still up 4+ times fora. Quick nurse back to sleep.
