TTC after 35

I just got the best patient award :)

So, finally had my SHG testing done today.  It was quite a process to be able to get the catheter in becasue I have a blockage at my cerival opening.  After a manual dialtion and lots of painful cramping we had success and in it went.  The best part is that the outcome was that my ute is nice and clear and ready for the next round of ttc, yeah!

At the endo of it all, my RE told me I am the best patient ever.  Made me feel good that he ancknowledged this was a difficult procedure and I took it like a champ.  In realtiy the only way I got through was becasue he was so caring and gentle with me through the whole hour long ordeal.

Happy Friday Everyone!!

  • I don't believe they are the same.  The SHG is where a catheter is placced through the cervix and then they inject some saline into the uterus through the catheter. Once the saline fills the uterus they use a vaginal u/s to view the uterus .  The hysteroscopy is where they feed a small camera into the uterus and are able to view the insides of the uterus.  I believe it makes the inside of the uterus much more visible because there is an actual camera in there. However, I've never had one so I am no expert.

My situation was not the norm as I have a small nambothian cyst right at the opening of my cervix.  When it is filled with fluid it blocks the opening of my cervix so the doc had to get by that and that caused the pain for me and it took quite some time for him to get in..  These are not common and you should not worry that would be an issue for you. Once everything was in place I had no difficulty with the actual procedure.

GL on your procedure next week. If they tell you to take pain meds (advil, motrin, etc) before your procedure definitely do it.  It will lessen any cramping pain you may feel.
