Moms of boys, I need help

I have only rarely cared for baby boys, and never a newborn, so caring for little boy parts is very new to me. I'm hoping to get some help.

The skin in N's groin, just above his penis, is peeling. It is very red too. At first I thought nothing of it and figured it was normal, like when a newborn's hands or feet peel. But the redness is not fading, and the peeling patch just gets bigger. Is that normal? It doesn't seem to hurt him.

  • @hijinx, you know, our pedi does have Saturday hours. I think I'll take your suggestion and call tomorrow morning. My brain is just beyond FUBAR these days, and I was thinking I had to wait until Monday, so thanks for jogging my memory!

  • I agree with PP's about calling. I've never experienced that with any of my boys, sounds yeasty or maybe a reaction to the diaper.

When they did the silver nitrate on Jace's belly botton and it burned the skin all around and it peeled Jace didn't show any signs of pain even though all of the skin was gone which made me wonder if they really feel pain like we do at that age.

Hope you get some answers :)
