Anyone not using the pumpkin seat care seat anymore but using a normal rear facing seat? I should have lifted weights before having her. The seat + LO + me being 5ft tall = a got mess
She isn't real sturdy sitting up yet so when I take her in and out of the seat I still have to hold it carry her. I don't mind that at all just trying to get a feel in what other do! I do just leave the seat in the car quite a bum it. Doesn't help that she hates her seat

What are you guys doing now that it's winter? DD is just wearing normal clothes because we have a car seat cover that had an attached blanket. We'll probably have to move her in the next month or so and it will still be cold. But I've thought of taking her out of the plastic bucket and have her sit in the cart at target, but can't figure out how to transfer her because it's so cold. Get rid of the cover and just buy her a thin coat? How do you wear baby with your own coat on?
I need answers!
I wrap her up in a blanket and put a hat and sweater on her and then take her in. Then when we get in, I take my coat off and put her in whichever carrier I'm using that day.
I never get why people feel like they have to carry the seat around. The child is not glued to it. Just take the kid out and leave the bucket.
I keep LO in her bucket as long as possible when we are out and about (we have a stroller frame for it that I usually snap it into instead of actually lugging it around). She is happy as long as she is in that bucket! If I'm at a restaurant and take her out- it's OVER and I have a fussy baby on my hands. But she will chill in that bucket for a good hour at least at a restaurant. More if I am walking around the mall or running errands. She loves her bucket so much!
The only time we consistently take the seat out of the car is at home and that is only because we have two bases but one seat and when I leave it in my car it makes me want to leave if in DHs car and then he takes it to work and we are stuck at home haha.

Oh you are a lucky soul, DS HATES his bucket. Hates, hates, hates. So much that if DH is with me, I usually ride in the back to try and soothe him because he will absolutely cry from point A to point B for zero reason except the bucket, I can't count how many times I have had to pull over to try and get him to stop screaming. It is this hatred for said bucket that really got me into wearing him.. OP, take the kid out and leave the bucket in the car like PPs have said, it's not much different than having a convertible car seat. Wear LO when you're going places, it makes things so simple.
@missconstrued I have a coat that is a little big on me so I put my carrier on under the coat and then put on my coat but leave it unbuttoned. When I get somewhere I put a warm hat on DS and sit in the back seat while I put him in the carrier then I walk into wherever holding my coat closed around us both and just take it off inside. I usually have DS in warm shirt or a onsie with a light jacket over it because he gets super hot in his car seat and also inside because so many places crank the heat and my wool pea coat keeps us both plenty warm getting from the car to inside.

I think I like pumpkin seat better then "the bucket". It's like I'm toting around little Cinderellas. I'm into it. My dd1 hates the pumpkin. We switched her at 3 mos to a convertible and she instantly stopped screaming. We had it installed at the store and the ride home was amazing. Even dh teared up bc she was finally happy in the car.

@Sami0726 Are you from the Midwest? Pumpkin seat is a pretty typical Midwest term for an infant carrier/car seat.

Just throwing this out there: I'm from the Midwest too, but I've never heard it called a pumpkin seat..
Trying the convertible seats tomorrow. Just put them in SO's car tonight. Hoping DD will not scream on her next car ride. They look so comfy! Guess I will be hip carrying the twins into the stores now.

Samesies. I'm in Chicagoland and have never heard of it as a pumpkin seat.
Well now that we have established that "pumpkin" seat is a very rare name.. I put her in a high chair at dinner and she did wonderful. I think I am going to get the convertible seat. Convertible seat... Is that the correct name ?! gotta love Hoosier lingo!!!

Whatevs. :P I've only heard 'pumpkin seat' used to describe a plastic bucket once before, and it came from the mouth of a friend from Michigan. She told me that it was a regional expression, so that's what I based my assumption off of. Apparently it's usage is limited to a select few in the Midwest. Learn something new everyday....
