I got back the results of the tissue typing that we did two weeks ago to see if DH or I would be a match for Max's kidney transplant and....
...Max and I are a PERFECT match. The transplant nurse told me that it's very rare to have all 6 antigens match like we did. She said that these are the best results that we could get!
It looks like Max is getting his mommy's kidney!!!

We just found out on Wednesday that Max has to undergo two more surgeries to repair some of the bladder problems that he has before we can move forward with the transplant. So, we originally thought that it would be in about 6 months, but now we're not too sure. Within the 2009 year for sure though.
We're so relieved about the news that we got today though. We will start the testing on my end at the first of the year. Very exciting and scary all at the same time!
That is such great news!!!
I wonder if parent to child or child to parent transplants happen often? I would think so, since both share mostly the same genetics. I am just asking, because DH is getting tested to donate his kidney to FIL.
