My mother is hosting a Christmas dinner tomorrow since that way we can just do what we want on Christmas Day. My sister's daughter has strep as of this morning but she's on antibiotics now. She is concerned about bringing her daughter around mine. What do you think? I think that if she's on the antibiotics should be okay right? Even though the dr. said 24 to 48 hours.

I probably wouldn't do it. Yes she might not be contagious by tomorrow night but would you really want to risk it and risk ruining your Christmas having a little one with strep?

She is probably still contagious...did she start the antibiotics today or yesterday? That will determine my final answer.

I say go and just limit the contact if it's possible. Technically it would be 24 hours since the antibiotic right? I'm not sure how strep is transmitted (I've only ever had it once as a kid) but just limit the contact and use hand sanitizer if she's older and wants to hold the baby.

She started today. But I would go and my sister would just stay home. But I was looking forward to seeing and my grandmother too. Oh well.

She should stay home with her LO and not risk getting any one else strep. Yes the general rule is 24 hours after an antibiotic is given/started you are cleared to go back to school. In the end it is your call.
