Anyone who owns a "FP whale of a tub" ?

Ok, so I like the sling that comes with "the first years infant to toddler tub" and I almost settled on buying the Fisher Prices whale of a tub as I love how it looks. The thing is FPs tub does not come with a sling , so can I buy one separately and buckle it to this tub ? I am torn between the two and would love to have a sling. Any suggestions?

  • I own it, and you do not need the sling--it's a great tub! The FP tub comes with a little partition that a newborn sits on, and it works great. You just take out the bar when baby gets older. I have never used a sling tub but have heard mixed reviews on it. Either way, you're going to be keeping your hands on your baby, so I really don't think one is safer than the other. GL!

Thanks ...I guess I will just go ahead and buy it. I can always get back to the store if I find it uncomfortable ( which I shouldn't hopefully :) ) !
  • Yup!  We loved ours and will be using it with 2.0.  No sling needed.

We actually put it on our kitchen table to bathe him, which was great as I had back and hip problems for the first few months.  (Of course one of us was touching him the whole time--no falling off/drowning allowed!)  After he got bigger and more active we used the whale tub in the tub, then finally graduated to the big tub.
Me and my Kiwi, both 38.  We struggled with RPL and were blessed with Micah.  I'm a full custody stepmom to Ethan!

  • You don't need a sling. The tub has an infant insert. It has worked great for both of my babies.

  • We didn't have the whale tub, but we had the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium bath center. It is like the whale tub because it has the little bar, but it also comes with the sling. We did the same thing as kcanuck and used it on the kitchen counter for awhile while I was recovering from my c-section, then we used the tub directly in the bathtub. Loved it and will use it again this time :)

  • I have never used a sling tub either, but we have the whale tub and it worked great for us. We were able to use it in our sink and just took out the bar when he got bigger. We loved it and will use it again for the new LO.

  • We loved the whale tub! It worked great for my son and we'll be using it for my daughter when she arrives. We only got about 5 months out of it and then he was a wild man trying to sit up and swim in it so we got a tub seat when that happened. (Helps them sit up in the big tub, like a suction cup booster seat thingy) But really I can't see why a sling would be needed...the whale tub was perfect.
