darn winter weather

We live in Iowa and are currently on the edge of freezing rain. I HATE freezing rain! Although it looks like it might stay just to the north of us for now. But Saturday afternoon it is supposed to start snowing and snow until Sunday afternoon. We are hearing amounts of snow from 1-3 inches to 4-7 inches. We have a family Christmas and one of DS's birthday parties scheduled for here in town on Sunday. But most family are coming from northern Iowa. So this may or may not happen. We are really looking forward to seeing family, some we haven't seen since summer. On the bright side, there would be more cake for me!!! I love cake!
No but really, I just want everyone to be safe. Iowa weather is so temperamental. It's just annoying when it threatens to ruin your plans.
Plus, DH's brother is driving in from Wyoming...we are saying a lot of prayers the roads stay clear until they get here tomorrow morning. I think my poor MIL might have an anxiety attack.
