ladies, looking for some ideas- In the past you have given me cute ideas for father's day. What are your children giving their fathers or grandparents? I have a 4 and 1 year old.
This year DS will color a picture for daddy, and then I will glue his picture on it and then put in a frame for his desk at work. I also found a man of steel cup at Spencer's that we're going to fill with candy from DS.
I'm in the camp of letting the kid pick out a gift (or make a gift, or choose to not give one entirely). Then you aren't speaking/actiing for them, but letting them do it themselves.
We're not doing gifts from him until he's old enough to pick it out himself. He's almost 3, but he's likely to pick out a Thomas train or the like, so we may try next year.
Grandma and Grandpa - they painted them pictures and sent them a photo calendar.
Dad - socks ; ). They wanted to get him something and that was the only thing left on my list. They still had fun picking them out and loved wrapping and decorating the package.
I brought my daughter to Target with me one day and asked her what present we should get for daddy. We spent almost an hour looking around the entire store and she picked out a watch, pack of gum, and a razor. The only thing I did to steer her one way or another was to ask if we could get him a GPS watch instead of a regular watch.
She loved shopping for daddy and helped me wrap it (it looks like a toddler wrapped it!).

I let DD pick out one of those parachute cord bracelets for DH. It didn't cost much and she had this huge grin on her face and told everyone in the store that she picked it out by herself.
Additionally she is drawing him a picture and I am going to frame it for his desk.

For DD's 1st Christmas I bought her and DH matching shirts for his favorite sports team. (She was too little to participate then.) This year DD is almost 3 and she made everyone an ornament. Also, she picked out something from what I'd already bought him to be a gift from her. She is excited about that. I will write both of their names on the tag but honestly I didn't really include my 15 mo old. Maybe next year.
I let DD pick, too. Sometimes it takes a bit of interpretation. Like last year, she wanted to buy him an airplane. I went with a battery operated helicopter. (With her approval.) This year she wanted to guy him a "King's shirt." We went with a new white, French cuffed dress shirt.
