Tummy Sleeper

Ever since LO figured out how to roll from back to front he's become a tummy sleeper, he simply will not sleep any other way.  And that's fine by me.

However- I'm getting worried about his head and neck.  He only likes to face one day.  We've tried moving his head the other way but he won't have it.  He turns his head just fine during tummy time and when sitting up... but when going to sleep he always faces one way.

Would this concern anyone else? I don't want his neck muscles to get tense.

Side note: I also worry about his hands.  He sleeps with them under his face most of the time and I know if that were me my hands and arms would probably fall asleep, no?

Re: Tummy Sleeper

  • I think it should be ok. I am the same way as an adult, I like laying on my tummy with my head to the left, occasionally I will go right, but it doesn't feel as comfortable.

During the day does his head/face tend to turn that way too? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. Now that he can roll, he will move if he is uncomfortable.
This. I used to worry about her sleeping on her arms, or putting her face in between her hands, but She's always comfortable or in a different position when I go back to check on her.
    I wouldn't worry.
