PSA Target shoppers

I didn't see this posted yet...sorry if I missed it

In a nut shell: target effed up majorly and 40 million shopper's cc info was compromised. In store shoppers...not online.

For the target lovers out there...check your statements!

Yea I freaking shopped there like weekly since Black Friday. It's been all over the news today. Grr!! I hate thieves.

I'm usually there all the time, and usually only use my debit card. Luckily, I've only gone twice and used cash both times! I hope none of you have any issues!

@jessicalvana, we loved Pampers Swaddlers, and had to try Target ones in desperation one time. They worked pretty well for us, so we switched. (That being said, LO doesn't have any skin allergies, sensitivities, frequent blow-outs, etc., that would require a higher-quality diaper, so it works for us.)

This is the one time I'm Happy target is 25 miles and a town away. I do most of my shopping online for them.

@henderson1026 not sure.... With these types of things they have no clue how large it can get until they are done investigating.

I'm embarrassed to say I frequent there so often, I'm afraid if I did get hacked, I seriously couldn't tell if it was them or if my shopping addiction took over that week..

When cards are compromised they are usually used elsewhere. Depending on the information they gain access to they can recreate your card and use it at other stores as well as ATM's. Don't worry, as a banker I can tell you that with most cases, it's very easy to tell the difference between legitimate fraud, and people that claim fraud for valid transactions. I highly doubt that you would be questioned by your card issuer.

It's any cc you just had to have shopped in a target in that time period. We had a lady on the news tonight who had a $75 charge to a Home Depot a few cities away and a gas charge in a city like 300 miles away. The problem is for people who use debit cards because it's hard to re coop those charges. But any credit card company that's good should let you dispute the charges and of course reissue your card.

Thanks for the info! I was trying to figure out how I would notice it, so this is super helpful! This really does make me rethink my lax on swiping my card without keeping track of anything.

My bank called me. My card has been compromised. Sending me a new one. Advised I call my credit card company. Boo-hoo!

Oh no, I hope they work with you to get it fixed quickly. I know 3 people at my work who's cards were compromised...it's crazy.

@BellaOso that sucks. Hopefully it will get taken care of quickly.

I used my Red debit card so I have to figure out how that works.
