February 2013 Moms

Sorry to vent (again)

So I'm just in the mood to generally talk crap at this point. I'm not a very bitter person but it's bad enough that my hours already got cut in half of my job this morning. I wake up to my landlord who so very conveniently lives next door to us. We are getting ready to take the little one to a music mommy and me class, and she posted a note that said that we over $350 by tomorrow. yes by tomorrow. Though I shouldn't say posted. I should say "frantically stormed over and slammed the note on the door". We Artie made an agreement that she was going to give us till February to split up the 350 payments because . we are a little behind mostly because my mom in law lived there by herself and she ended up in hospital. Couldn't pay for a while. We're mostly caught up, but Anyway she's only doing this because she's going through a really bad divorce she actually inherited the duplexes from her ex-husband who warned us that she was crazy.well, you know, just our luck.:/

Now we wouldn't be so butt hurt about EXCEPT we've been really supersweet, considering the fact that neither her nor her ex-husband have done anything to fix up the house for years. Yet we let them procrastinate. there's a gaping hole in the bathroom wall. or floor is Terrible. We had to take out the ten year old carpet, so the whole floor is hard cement which is no good for a toddler to crawl on. The list goes on. And yet she wants to get all crazy with us about $350 because somebody else gave her problems?

She gets like this often too. SO and I got into our first argument in weeks two days ago. It only lasted 10 minutes but she actually called one of our friends to come over and yell at Shawn, my significant other ,and then persisted to Yellit him herself. She even had the nerve to step into the house without any permission and state that this was her house and therefore we can't make any noise that disturbs her or also just kick us out. You weren't even being rude towards her we even apologized for the noise and just said that you know we were going to some problems but none of that was enough for her.

How can People be so cold right before Christmas.now not only have to look for new job but Shawn and I are also looking for a new place to live. hopefully,in northern Florida, as opposed to southern Florida. because people here suck.

So I am very sorry to hear you are having such a rough time with your landlord. But I do feel compelled to say that given your pictures, moving sound like the best idea. That home doesn't look ideal for a baby, namely for health reasons, and your landlord doesn't seem willing to fix them. Beyond the aesthetic issues, I would be concerned about mold, structural, and critter problems. Where I live, they offer subsidized rent and housing for families who are dealing with lower income. They are often nicer than rentals people pay full price for. Maybe you can see if any of those are available in the area you want to live in? I am sorry you have to deal with this during the holidays. Moving sucks all year round.

  • Ya we're moving irregardless. The only reason we've stayed there this long is because we haven't had the money to leave. Everytime we try to save up MIL requests large sums of money so we are flat broke from helping her in exchange for a roof we were hoping would be tenporary:/

  • But ya I want to see if we can apply for subsidized housing. That's a great idea.

  • Thanks! I actually really needed that. I feel like I've been so whiny lately. Lol so thanks for that;p

Good news though, MIl isn't gonna make us pay anything for a couple months SO jut called me and said she's gonna let us gather our finances so we can go. Woohoo!

    A break? Maybe? :D

  • @Mysticsunshine I'm so sorry you are going through this! You should see if there is any way to take her back to court for refusing to fix the issues.  As a landlord, she is REQUIRED to make sure that the property is safe for the occupants ***Unless otherwise stated in your rental agreement***.  I know sometimes people have rental agreements set up so that the occupant is responsible for all home maintenance, but that is usually with a Land Contract or a Lease to Purchase agreement.

Good luck finding a new home! I hope it happens quickly for you.  :)  And I hope your MIL is better, you said she was in the hospital?
