What is working for your nausea?

I am dying over here. No vomiting yet but moderate to severe nausea all day and at night it is so bad that I haven't really been eating dinner because my stomach hurts too much. Anything that you are doing that helps? I don't recall it being this bad with DS -- either that or I blocked it out!

  • I've been eating a couple crackers before I even get OUT of bed...then make sure I eat something every two hours (nuts, bananas, crackers, strong cheese, tuna mixed w/cream cheese on crackers)
  • Loading the player...
  • String* not strong cheese lol
  • LMAO at STRONG cheese, @Nabercro615 I have a feeling that would NOT help m/s!!

  • I found these ginger hard candies from Go Naturally that seem to help. They're organic, vegan, and gluten-free, if folks are looking for anything with those tags.

  • Rooibus tea has helped a lot for me.  Protein rich snacks help too (almonds in particular).

  • Dill pickles is what helps me.  I actually hate them, but they take care of my nausea so my husband makes sure the fridge is stocked.
  • I've been stuck on the couch for 4 days feeling so sick.
Finally got sea bands this morning and they are helping. Also I've been eating peppermint candy canes but they give me a bad after taste.
Ice cold water has helped a lot too.
And shaved ice sounds good so going to get one later :)
Hoping I can eat a real meal soon!
  • I will get some Jolly Ranchers -- I forgot I had them with DS (I still have preggo brain 20 months later). My problem is that when the MS gets so bad at night even the thought of drinking water makes me sick. I'll also try some peanut butter on crackers but I just hate food right now so much. I gained 10 lbs the first tri with DS and I doubt I will gain any this time around.

  • I feel your pain. The thought of anything makes me gag. The sea band is helping me though. I ate lunch!
  • Tortilla chips seem to get rid of my nausea best.  I also drink half cold water, half Gatorade a few times a day.
  • Sprite and smaller, more frequent meals.

  • I'm right there with you :( not fun! but a good sign things are going well :)

Mint tea steeped with shaved ginger has really helped me. Anything mint or ginger helps an upset tummy. Whole Foods has 'ginger beer' (non-alcoholic, just a confusing name!) but I haven't tried it yet so I can't comment. But it does have more ginger than ginger ale so it might be worth a try. My ob's nurse also recommended B6 vitamins taken daily 3x...but I haven't been able to keep/force them down yet, blergh. Food wise, applesauce, broth, and saltines have been my staples.

If things get really bad and you can't function/hold down liquids there is a medication, Zofram. My ob suggested it but I've been doing well with tea and saltines, but it might be something worth looking in to!

  • sarahinthecity10 Peppermint works for me.  I steal a candy cane off the Christmas tree from time to time.

Hard candy in general works for me.  The big lollipops that they sell at the counter at Walgreens are awesome.  Blow Pops also work.

Ginger Ale and Sprite/7 Up are the best drinks for my tummy right now.

I also munch on oyster crackers when I feel like I can't get anything else down.  Since they aren't as big as Saltines, they don't dry my mouth out as badly...  Also, I had broccoli and cheese rice (Knorr packet) yesterday for lunch.  That went down pretty easily.
