So scared... Prayers please!

So we were told at our lo's 2 week check up that her cystic fibrosis test came back abnormal and they needed to retest. She has shown no signs of being sick - she got back to and surpassed birthweight quickly, eats well, has plenty of poopy diapers, etc so I really just assumed it was a false positive. We just found out this aftenoon her 2nd test also came back abnormal so now I'm really scared. We have to schedule a sweat test for her tomorrow to determine for sure weather she had the disease or not. My husband who is in medicine and is familiar with the disease is really freaking out which is making me even more scared bc I know what it will mean for the rest of her life. I just can't believe this is happening and my perfect baby might be really really sick. Any thoughts, prayers, words of advise/encouragement would be much appreciated!

I hope that the test goes smoothly, that you have some definite answers when the results come in. I also hope that you have a physical support system near you. We will offer all the creepy internet stranger hugs you could ever hope for, but sometimes you just need a real hug.

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about the disease, but I do know what it's like to be blind-sided by a child with special needs. Please, do find your way to the SN board once the dust settles. The ladies over there are phenomenal. Also, seek out support groups on FB or other social media sites. People with BTDT experiences can really be of benefit.

It is scary! I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. My best friend has CF, and I have been there with her through a lot. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to ask!! She was diagnosed at 2 years old and is now 28. There have been a lot of advances with CF over the last few years, but I know it's especially scary with babies. Please reach out if you need to!! Thank you ladies for all of your kind words. I keep telling myself she just can't be really sick and the test has to be negative but I know that may not be the reality. I have never known love like this and it just kills me to think she may not leed this perfect life that I want so badly for her. Regardless her daddy and I love her to pieces and are so blessed to have her.

Sweat test scheduled for this afternoon. We have been told that other children who tested the same way 85% did not have Cf. however, 15% chance of having the disease is still way too high a percentage for me to cope with. We are not telling family or friends until we know more and if results are bad will not share anything until after the holidays so thank you ladies for letting me share on here.

I recall you were awaiting to find out if LO was a carrier or not. I know some about CF b/c I have a coworker who has two sons with CF. I recently read an online article written by a 32-yo woman with CF. Both are encouraging. Hugs.
