Hi! I am looking advice god girl gifts for Xmas. I have 20 month old son and she uses all his toys but want to get some good girly stuff for her since we never really get new toys for her. Tia!

  • At this age (and for quite awhile) open ended toys are the best developmentally. So that would be something like blocks that can be a tower, a spaceship, a wall... Whatever. Verses a toy purse that is always only a purse. Can you get punk blocks or duplos or something? Mixing in with what you have probably wouldn't hurt...

  • DD received several baby dolls during her first year and they all got played with. She also liked her doll that can go in the bath. Spill and fill purse gets good reviews. I don't know if you have a play kitchen, but both of my kids LOVE ours. DS likes our rocking horse, so you could do a girly one for your DD.

  • Our daughter is getting a Corolle doll.  They last forever and will be played with for a good 5+ years.  If you have a 20month old you likely have the essentials like blocks, trains, kitchen etc.  So, try adding some girl dolls, dress up props, tea set etc.

Our daughter is our first but most of what she has is gender neutral or boyish at this point as we really value the open ended toys.  She has a huge wooden train set, tons of blocks, a large kitchen etc.  We got her some girly dolls for Christmas so she owns something pink.  She is also getting a walking/riding car.
