So even though I go out with LO almost daily, today was only the second time I have had to nurse in public (I don't count Mom's group or my car).
My DH, LO and I were at the mall and LO woke up from a nap SCREAMING for food. I remembered that Sears has recliner chairs for sale so we bolted towards Sears. It was the PERFECT nursing spot. Pretty secluded and facing away from the main aisle. My husband took off to shop and I sat there nursing LO. A few people came by us, no big deal.
Then an Indian man in his late 30's comes over to me.. While I'm nursing, LO is NOT under a blanket or cover, you can clearly see her- a baby- laying across me. I have the stroller parked right there. I'm sitting all reclined, my feet up and comfy.. And he asks in good English with an American accent "Where can I find an iron table?"
I just said "Sorry, I don't work here." And he said "oh okay." And walked away.
Really!? Because store employees usually sit in recliner chairs with their feet up with a baby and stroller and shopping bags?
What was with that? Anyone have any insight?
Sorry, I know it was a long story but I wanted to set the scene!
Re: Weird NIP encounter today (Long)
Anyway! I had an elderly lady come up to me in the commissary and ask where the baby stuff was as I'm wearing him. I tell her I don't know and she's like well you should, you have a baby. I wanted to ask her if she knew where the depends were bc she was old. Ppl can be very frustrating.
Mentioning race shouldn't be taboo.
I also don't get the point of describing the man's heritage or accent, and chances are, like PP said, he was hoping a stranger in the store might have an idea where something was located if he couldn't find an employee to help him. This whole post seems like a nonissue.
