I can't take the pressure!!

So much sinus pressure. It is getting to the point where I can't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time. I have been taking regular strength Tylenol for the pain and flushing my sinuses with a netipot but I really wish there was something I could do about the actual pressure. I mean it's getting to the point where my teeth are aching. I've tried a heating pad as well as ice packs and nothing is helping...

Any input ladies on what else I can do to help?

  • Here's hoping that tomorrow will be better.

  • Try taking ibuprofen. My dr says it's safe up till 28 weeks. If it's inflammation that's causing the pressure it should help!
  • Steam is my go-to...hot tea, boiling water, anything. It helps mine so much!

  • Humidifier?

  • I've had a cold/sinus thing for the past week and when I called my doctor to ask about cough drops I also asked if there was anything I could take as a decongestant and was told plain sudaffed was safe. (Also on the cough drops, I was told they were fine as long as they didn't contain zinc just in case anyone is in need of them)
  • I am having sinuses too and yesterday the pressure was so built up it was coming out my eyes. I stand in a hot steam shower for about 30min until I can breathe through my nose, use a humidifier and Vicks Vapor Rub but all that wasn't cutting it. I took Zyrtec last night and was able to sleep the whole night!! Try an antihistamine :)
  • Benadryl has been my holy grail!!
  • My doctor told me mucinex was okay to take. It cured my headaches!
  • I am going to give an antihistamine a try tonight. If I don't get some relief, I may try some sudafed tomorrow. Thanks for all the pointers ladies. It helps so much to know I am not alone in my agony. I will in the mean time continue to flush my nose out a few times a day. It helps to see that there is stuff coming out regularly.

  • I had this last weekend so bad and my OB said Sudafed was OK (the plain kind you get behind the counter). I hesitated to take it and tried to tough it out with just saline spray and steam, etc., but when I finally gave in and took a dose it was like night and day. I didn't have to take much more. I hope you feel better soon!

  • I had your same problems. Tried most of the above options the ladies have provided! It's been 3 weeks and I couldn't deal anymore. My dr gave me an antibiotic...I'm starting to feel normal again!
  • I tried to tough it out for three weeks but finally gave in and saw my doctor. I had a sinus infection and needed antibiotics. Don't let it go too long!

  • I am hoping it will pass soon but if not I will certainly bring it up at my appointment in Jan 6th. It does feel like it may be starting to get better today. Thanks for all the helpful input ladies, you all help me feel like I'm not insane. Lol, pregnancy can do some strange things to your body.
