"Outed" Twice, LOL!

On Friday night we had our married couples bible study Christmas party. We told our group at the party that we are expecting. The next day we had a baby shower thrown by our church for my girlfriend. We were discussing the grief you receive over baby names and after I relayed what happened with us when Lincoln was born, my girlfriend from my bible study says, "So are people giving you grief over this new baby?" Everyone's eyes started bugging out of their heads and my friend immediately got a look of death on her face and started apologizing profusely. All I could do was laugh. She apologized for stealing my thunder. Ha!

Then, not an hour later, another friend blurts out, "Are you pregnant? You look pregnant. You got big!" She blurted this in front of the few members who had not heard the first announcement. Oh well, lol.

I would never, EVER announce at someone else's shower because I am not douche-y like that so I felt a little bad but the shower honoree was not phased (I don't think.)

Re: "Outed" Twice, LOL!

  • Eh, your "announcements" were forced by others I wouldn't worry :)
  • Loading the player...
  • My mom dropped it at a family dinner with 24 of us lol.
Then she dropped my engagement at Walmart to a friend of hers but one of my friends over heard and called me right away.
I was trying to keep it hush because she is going through a bad break up. Oh well. Lol.
  • Ah! Sorry lilnunz1! I think I accidentally flagged your comment while I was scrolling on my phone! Dumb phone... Does anyone know how to unflag from a phone???

Doesn't look flagged, but if you ever do, just click "love it" :)
  • That's good to hear the shower honoree took the impromptu announcements in stride.

Last night DH and I went to meet up with friends at a bar we frequent to watch football and when we sat down, the bartender came over to me with a glass of water and says, "Congratulations!" I was just kind of shocked because neither DH nor I had told her our news, but I guess one of our friends said something to her when we walked in, lol. The bartender said it right in front of another friend of ours who didn't know yet so they were obviously surprised that the bartender knew before they did, haha!

  • Thanks! I think that's what ended up figuring out....I hit it at least until the little flag disappeared :)
  • A Little off topic, but our boy name is Lincoln!

    I love it so much!

What have people said about it?

  • @christinemurray91 It wasn't so much that people had a negative association with it. It was more like our parents both hated it. My MIL wanted a Catholic saint name (Dh and I are not Catholic, LOL) and my parents just hated it for some unknown reason, they never really said. After the birth cert was signed and delivered they called me at like 11 pm in the hospital and asked if I would change it. Um, no.

My dad's side of the family call him "Stinkin' Lincoln" and some people shorten it to "Linc" which is annoying but there could be worse shortenings.

lmao, stinkin lincoln... that's especially funny since my daughter's name is Ellie and she gets called smelly ellie  :P

My husband wanted to shorten it to Link, because he's a huge Legend of Zelda fan 8-|

I'll probably call him Lincoln or Les, because his initials will be L.E.S and I like it, lol.

My BIL insists we named him after Zelda.
