Burping like a frat boy, anyone else?

So before I was pregnant I very rarely burped. But since a few weeks into my pregnancy I burp all the time, it doesn't matter what I eat, I try to eat slow, and I don't use a straw. As time has progressed the burps are just getting louder. Usually after a good burp I feel much better, but its getting to the point of embarrassment. The only thing that seems to help a little is if I chew a stick of gum, but that only lasts for so long.

Anyone else having the same issue, or finding a trick to keep the burps at bay? :-)

Re: Burping like a frat boy, anyone else?

  • Um... I am a burping machine. I attempt to keep my mouth shut, but that only does so good. SO embarrassing when one comes during a work meeting...

  • My boyfriend and I have started calling it growling since it's like these low, rumbly things haha

If he hears it he says "why are you growling at me?" Haha

Lame? Yes. Funny? To us :)

  • I've put my husband to shame lately with my newly acquired burping skills ;)
  • Mine are small, continuous burps. No loud ones yet but I do hate these burps!

@TDBabyM, FYI...chewing gum can also give excess gas.

  • Yes! I've been all about the farting until recently, now it seems like it's onto the burping and indigestion.
  • I was always a belcher. Not sure why. If I tried to restrain it I just got the hiccups which lead to nausea. Now I let it out full force. But. Still get hiccups more than ever ;(
  • Yea I can totally give the men a run for their money these days!!

  • Thanks ladies it's good to know I'm not alone
  • Ugh, yes. Constant burps here and I am one of those people who is pretty easily grossed out by bodily functions in general (cue the "wait until the baby comes and all the bodily functions you will have to deal with!" comments ;)) so I hate having no control over all this excess gas. But as PP mentioned, better out than in... the gas pains are killer when I have to hold anything in!
