Flu while prego...anyone w/me?

Ugh I've had flu for past 3 days and can't seem to beat this fever and cough. Anyone else get flu while prego? What did u take? I'm so nervous and hoping baby is doing ok.

I had it a few weeks ago when my morning sickness was probably at its worst. I was absolutely miserable between morming sickness the fever and the aches. I took robitussin for the coughing (although it never once stayed down more than 5 min) and tylenol for the fever. I drank a lot of water but mainly just toughed it out. I was out of work over a week and probably should have stayed home at least two more days but I had things at work I needed to catch up on and was tired of laying in bed.

I had the flu with DS2 and they gave me tamiflu. I think you have to catch it within the first 48hrs to qualify for the tamiflu though. Hopefully you are over the worst of it and start to feel better in the next few days.

Antibiotics don't do anything for influenza as it is viral not bacterial just FYI.

Thank you ladies! I literally just threw up from coughing so much! Ugh, I hate this. And I even got a flu shot a month ago. So much for that! Lol

Maybe they were treating you for some kind of infection (bladder or UTI) or just wanted to cover their bases. Does seem a little odd though if it was just the flu. I hope you feel better as well!

Have you been to your dr? Being pregnant it wouldn't hurt to make sure it actually is the flu and not something else (sinus infection, pneumonia, etc). There are strains of the flu that aren't covered by the shot, but having the shot you'd be less likely to be this sick from the flu. At the very least your dr can prescribe some good cough meds at pp mentioned so you can get some rest and recover!

I got the flu shot too about three weeks before I got the flu

I didn't have the flu but had everything else sickness (cold, sinus, cough etc). Stuck it out for three weeks with just Tylenol (which never helped so I didn't take a lot of it), water, Vicks and cough drops. After 3 weeks I am over it! Called dr this week (bc now I'm 15 weeks along) and he gave me antibiotics. I feel so much better after just 2 days on it! Call your dr! It may not be just the flu!
