Speaking of bras...

Did you fit into the same size after you were done nursing?

One month before LO arrived, I got my first nursing bra. I was fit at a store and was 4 inches larger in the band size. Plus I wore an extender as it got closer to due date. (crazy what the female body does during pregnancy!). The cup size was larger too, but I can't remember how much.

I'm still nursing and have been fit again. The band size is back to pre-baby. The cup size is several sizes larger. I'm planning to nurse as long as I can.

I've got a whole drawer of nice, semi-pricey pre-baby underwire bras that I haven't worn since last June (18 months ago!). Any sense in hanging on to them? Or let them go to someone who can use them before the elastic goes bad. And where do good bras to anyway? I usually wear them out myself. Donate somewhere? Sell them?

Probably a stupid FTM question, but I see them every time I open the drawer and think "what a waste".

Also, I realize every person's body is different. I was just interested in hearing the experience of others. Thanks!

  • I am still hanging on to my almost new VS B cups even though it's been more than 6 years since I've been able to fit into those. I just can't bring myself to sell/donate/get rid of an expensive bra that I only wore a hand full of times.

That said, I will probably never be a B cup again. I'm an E/F right now.

  • I tried wearing non-nursing bras for the first time yesterday. I was a B cup pre-pregnancy, and I wore a C cup during most of my pregnancy and while I was nursing. I tried the C cup first. It seemed too big, but the B cups seem a little too small. That said, the only C cup I tried on was a super cheap one because I didn't want to drop tons of money on new bras during my pregnancy that I didn't know if I would ever fit into again afterwards. Maybe if I tried on some good bras it would be different.

So my answer is... I have no idea what size I am anymore. I'm sure that helps a lot. Ha.

  • I'm wearing my prepregnancy bras now even though I'm still nursing. A few months ago I noticed my nursing bras were all of a sudden way too big. I'm cheap and didn't want to buy new nursing bras so I just started wearing my old ones. I just pull them down. Or I wear a cami with a built in bra under my shirt.
  • I am pretty sure my ribs expanded.  I can't fasten my old bras comfortably even though my cup size seems to be back to normal.  Since it's a cup thing with you, I'd hold them another year or so and see where you are.  I don't think elastic will go bad that fast.  You could try selling on craigslist but I think places will take bra donations too.  There might be a women's shelter or something that would really like some nice bras.
  • I'm still waiting for mine to go down after baby #1 and now baby #3 is en route.  :(
