I have my 16 week appointment today 3:45 EST with a different doctor (they rotate at this point) and am excited to hear baby's heartbeat It's just a routine appointment. Who else has appointments today?
I have 10:30am EST appt today for my NT Scan and MaterniT21. I can't wait to see the little one taking shape and looking like a baby. I had a u/s at 8 weeks and it was blob then.
Back from my appt and the NT Scan went well. The genetic counselor was great and explained everything to me and answered all my questions. Neck measurements were on the small size which is great. Brain development and fluid looked good. Heart rate is strong and normal at 159 (1st time anyone ever told me the heart rate of the baby.). It looks like a real baby now! This is getting real. Lol.
The blood draw for MaterniT21 was kinda painful. It took 30 mins of poking on both arms to be able to find the vein. They offered to just get the pin prick for the NT scan part today and have me come back for the 2 vials for the MaterniT21, but I refused and just toughed it out. The nurse said I had a high tolerance of pain and I told her this is nothing compared to giving birth or cesarean. Lol. So in 2 weeks I should find out the genetic testing results and the gender.
It was also a relief that the genetics counselor told me I will pay no more than $200 for the MaterniT21 if my insurance won't pay. She said if I get a bill higher than that, all I have to do is call the lab and they should give me the out-of-pocket discount.
Back from my check-up. Baby's heartbeat was in 156 It took her awhile to find it because the baby was still pretty low. Once she did it was definitely strong!
@wtfisup and @CDK211, if you have a full cecum (have to poop), your uterus might measure a lot bigger than it really is. That happened to me at one of my appointments.
Pregnancy, wooooooooo!
"And all the house elves came to help, and THAT was the day Voldemort was defeated!"
I know, right? My (male) ob was the one who told me that was why my uterus was measuring so big. He was like, "man, your cecum is FULL of poop." And I'm all half naked on the table...yea. Hawt.
