Yesterday I took LO to visit the school I teach at. All the staff was of course so happy and congratulatory as most know I went through a lot to have this guy.
As I was standing in a circle of my coworkers, one of the custodians asked me "Are you a real mom or a fake mom?" It took me a second, then he said "do you breast feed or not? " I was in shock. I was caught so off guard, the only thing I could come up with was "both".
He started on a rant about what a scam Similac is. I calmly told him, "my milk didn't come in for a week, and I chose to not let my baby starve to death."
This whole incident has really bothered me, and makes me angry that people (who have never nursed, mr. custodian) are so judgmental about something that is a personal choice.
It is funny that right now I am really ready to stop breast feeding for numerous reasons, and this jerk had the audacity to say something so stupid. He's not the one sitting here with ice packs on his boobs because they hurt so bad.
Thanks for listening to my vent all you real and "fake" moms!

It wouldn't have bothered me because I literally just do.not.care. how people feed their infants, but dude needs to learn to respect personal boundaries.
