Pregnant after IF

Weight LOSS at 33.5 weeks and more issues :(

It's been a rough few weeks. We're almost at 34 weeks and it's getting down to crunch time. I was told I had gestational diabetes but my blood sugar has been pretty low even though I'm eating SO much. I'm so tired of everyone treating me like I'm not eating when I am. I also had vicious nausea and vomiting which is slowly creeping back into my life now. I had to go to L&D 2 times last week for NST due to a cocktail of symptoms plus feeling like the baby isn't moving as much. Thankfully the baby has been fine, but it's still stressful on me. I've also had diarrhea for many days now and taking Immodium (which hasn't helped) so I'm also dehydrated which is causing tons of contractions. The nurse in L&D was almost lecturing me on the "importance of drinking water" as if I don't know that and would deprive my body of water while pregnant. I reminded her several times about the diarrhea, but she seemed to forget that. So I have my regular checkup yesterday and I lost four pounds in two weeks so the doctor wasn't happy and said we just have to monitor it. I thought I was going to cry from frustration when she told me to eat more because I already am through the food adversions. (I haven't had any cravings) She said I can only stand for two hours a day at work because of m low blood sugar and I will go on leave officially starting on the 25th. Merry Christmas!! I'm not a small girl to begin with so I never figured gaining weight during pregnancy would be difficult for me. I was always scared I'd blow up like a balloon. It gives me a complex when everyone tells me how tiny I am to be almost 8 and a half months pregnant because I'm scared the baby isn't growing on track or lacks fluid. The doctor said I am very small for how far along I am but not to listen to what anyone says, and that the baby is right on track. IF brain gets the best of me sometimes. Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season so far!!! We have the greatest gift of growing our little ones inside of us.

Re: Weight LOSS at 33.5 weeks and more issues :(

  • I'm having similar issues with not gaining enough weight, despite eating enough (I'm 31w2d). I also have GD (newly diagnosed last Friday).

I did do some research and found out that both excessive weight gain and not gaining enough are symptoms of GD.

Can they give you anything to help with the diarrhea, prescription wise?

I'm sorry it's been so rough.

  • This must be so stressful! I know IF brain is nutty, and I'm sure this doesn't help at all. I hear GD can be tricky. I hope that everything ends up okay. Every pregnancy and baby is different. My doctor had a patient who gained only 8lbs during her pregnancy and her baby is perfectly healthy - so I wouldn't be too concerned unless baby shows you otherwise. As far as the water intake. I seriously would drink 2 - 2Liters of water a day, and sometimes more, and still I'm sitting here with low fluids. Now I'm drinking close to a gallon of water a day and my fluids are still low and no one knows why. So I wouldn't stress too much on the water. Just make sure u drink enough fluids, and don't limit yourself to water. The MFM doc ssuggested coconut water, apple juice. Not sure how that works with your GD, but just keep the luquids going hun.

Yay to your Christmas gift! That's awesome! Now that ur in the third tri , they tell me here to drink lots of milk and load up on the calcium. They give me 4 milk cartons a day and two yogurts and diced cheddar cheese.

Hope your holidays go well! Keep us updated!! We're almost there.

  • I'm sorry sweets! You're doing all you can right now and it's frustrating. Hang in there and do the best you can, you're close to the finish line (((hugs)))

  • Hugs. Positive vibes your way.

  • Thanks for the support ladies!! You all always make me feel better. Yes, the baby is measuring just fine. The doctor said she will probably not be a big baby (both DH and I are not tall people and both of us have tiny Asian mothers). Just please send prayers my way for me to actually have an appetite. It's SO hard to have to eat when literally the thought of everything makes you gag. :(
