I curse the day we put up that damn tree

The Christmas tree is coming down asap this year.  I am so sick of running interference with K.  He is hell bent on sucking on the lights, pulling on the branches, and other means of death by Christmas tree.  All of you who skipped the tree this year are genius and I applaud you.

Re: I curse the day we put up that damn tree

  • LOL yup that is one reason we decided not to this year! LOL  I have a hard enough time keeping him from trying to chew on the dog's pillow.  I can only imagine what he would try to do with a christmas tree.

  • Weirdly enough, my DD could care less about the tree.  I have no idea why- she crawls around the entire house, getting into the electronics, kitchen cabinets, pantry, laundry, toilet paper- the list goes on and on.  But for some miraculous reason, she ignores the tree.  I think it might be because she knows she can't stand up using it for support.  She tried the first day we got it, and now will ocassionally brush her fingers against a branch, but that's it.

Although I'm sure next year I'll be cursing the tree, because I'm pretty sure she'll be all over it then.

  • DS isn't crawling yet, but next year we are putting up a nice baby gate around the tree. When DH was little his dad made a gate and each kid got to paint a section of it. It was really neat and was a good way to keep the little ones out.  We may do something like that.
  • While I am sorry for your situation, thank you for posting this. I was having "no-tree regret" this morning. :-)
  • Thank you for reminding me why we have the SuperYard wrapped around it. It's not very festive, but it sure works.
  • My DD makes a beeline for the tree too. She's playing with the packages underneath, putting them in her mouth and trying to pull the ornaments off the tree. I love having a tree up, but I can't wait to take it down.

  • Lily isn't crawling yet, but she is so disinterested in the tree I sort of wish we hadn't gone to the trouble of putting one up. She seriously won't even look at it, much less have any desire to try to eat it.
