C-sections

How many weeks after..

How many weeks after were you not in pain? I'm almost 3 weeks. I really try not to take any pain medicine because I feel like i should be okay not too if that makes sense. But it still hurts to walk around a lot. Or to get into/roll around/get up and out of bed. Or if I carry her for a long period of time without sitting down. And my right side is the worst. Coughing and laughing suck... My incision site is awesome- it's just like everything under it is what's hurting.

Thank you..

Re: How many weeks after..

  • I'm almost at 5 weeks (had section on November 1) and I'm wondering the same thing. I had one good week and now I'm back to being sore and having to take it easy. My bleeding is also back. I have my check up on Monday so I'll find out what's going on. I'm just curious to see what others say.

  • I had my c-section on August 22, so its been about 15 weeks. It took me until about 6 weeks to start feeling better. I still get random pains every once and a while. I had more pain from my inside incisions than from my outside one. I would take Motrin when it got really bad. I bled till about 6 weeks. I found that when I would do more strenuous stuff, I would bleed more. So don't lift things that are too heavy or twist too much. If you are still sore, don't strain. It will only make your recovery longer. But I feel much much better now. Hang in there it gets easier!!
  • I started having red blood again on Sunday when it was actually all but gone. I had random brown spotting every once in awhile but now with the pain I have the red blood. :( hope you feel better too!

  • The soreness lasted at least 4 weeks with both of mine.  Overdoing it will prolong your recovery and increased bleeding is a sign that you have overdone it.  Even if you don't take the prescription meds (which I didn't take much after I went home) you should still take motrin.  It helps with inflammation and my Ob tells me it makes your scar prettier ;-)

  • My scar is gorgeous. 2-3 weeks pp I couldn't be happier with my incision. I guess I should stop trying to do everything. And take the Motrin/ibproufin every 6 hours like it says too.

  • I stopped taking pain Meds around 3wks and felt a substantial decrease in discomfort around 6wks. Now at 8wks i feel the most "normal" I've felt in months. I know I still have to heal more but it wasn't until now that I felt like me.

This is me too. Thinking about doing some light exercise next week. But everyone is different. Make sure your incision isn't puffy, red or oozing. If so call your doc.

  • Incision is perfect. Everything underneath is what I'm ready to rip out. I guess it depends on how active everyone was when they first came home too and how many they've had? I'm not sure.

  • I'm 15 days PP, and I stopped taking my painkillers after 6 days.  I have had to take Tylenol or Advil once or twice, but all in all, I feel good.

I make sure I am moving around as much as possible, and I got up as soon as possible after my section as well.  I was out of bed within 12 hours.
  • Are you moving around as much as possible? I'm not sure if I was really lucky or if has to do with walking around as instructor my the nurses in the hospital, but I tried to slowly get moving. I also drank a lot of peppermint tea (helps with gas pain - nurses advice too)
I stopped taking Percocet 1 week post partum. I still felt pain anytime I tried to get in and out of bed and finding a comfortable position to sleep was a challenge. By week 3 though I think I was 100% pain free.

  • With my 1st C/S it was a good 4 weeks before I felt better and could get around pretty good.
My 2nd C/S was only a week, maybe 10 days max before I felt great!
And w. my 3rd C/S I'm 11 days out and still a bit sore, taking pain meds but only as needed, not on an hourly schedule. I'm thinking I'll be almost 100% in another week or so...
