Would you let your baby wear a bikini? Thanks @kh565148 for the idea.

ETA- bikini as in 2 piece.

  • Also, I see nothing wrong with bikinis, but I like covering as much as possible from the sun.
  • I put no. Either a one piece or a tankini to make diaper changes easier.
  • No no no. I've UO'd this before. Bikinis have no place on babies. Tankini and bottoms maybe but full on bikinis can wait until she's a teenager....or older if her Daddy has anything to do with it.

Exactly this. Plus I have a boy ;-)

  • Tankini, yes....bikini, no. I don't really see the point in little girls wearing them. They usually don't stay where they are supposed to anyways. Not for us....

  • I say no to bikinis on babies.  I agree with @BetsyD2010, there will be plenty of time for that when she is older! :)

  • I don't see the big deal with bikinis public of not. LO has 4 swim suits and none of them are bikinis because its too much sun exposure but otherwise she would have bikinis.
  • I said no big deal, but as my daughter is transparent she needs SPF 5000 to protect her.

PS - originally read this as "binkies" and I was all HELL YA for binks!

  • I voted no on this one. I think tankinies are fine bc they are easier but I don't like bikinis on babies. DH wouldn't go for it either. I also want to cover her from the sun as much as possible too.

@pink724 omg I can't even with this!!! Adorable!!

Agreed! So stinking cute! Riley's fair skinned so I see a lot of UG swimwear shirts in her baby future.

  • Nope. But when I think bikini I think this:

    https://www.babikini.com/category_3/2/Bikinis.htm

Too many creeps out there and the last thing I want to do is sexualize my daughter. But there are very cute two peices, like tankini's and such. Wearing them in the backyard pool, doesn't really matter to me. I wouldn't b/c they lack in coverage for the sun.

And I got one of these babikini''s string bikini's from a family member when my DD was 1 y/o. I was like, no.

  • Bikini love here!  DH actually picked this out for DD1...came with a matching hat :)  And I hope it fits DD2 this summer :)image
  • If I'd had a girl, I would have put her in a bikini, painted her nails, and always said yes to hair bows!!!

  • I don't plan on putting DD in a bikini but I don't think it's bad if ppl do.  I got a free one that is 12 months- I may use it at that point.  Right now I have a tankini for DD and I like it bc it's easy to change her and it covers her so she's not slippery in the pool.  I had a one piece for her this summer and I had to take it off completely to change her.  Didn't like that.

  • I don't wear them myself, so I wouldn't put my kid in one, but they just seem really impractical. My cousins wore them and the little tops would ride up into their armpits, and judging from bathtime, I would not want a slippery little baby in a pool. I will probably put my kids in rash guard type shirts until at least 2 or 3.
