We have our gathering with my in-laws on Friday and Saturday, so it's crunch time here. This is what needs to be done for this weekend:
-Some baking to finish gift baskets -Make the food for the Friday night gathering -Make breakfast casserole for Saturday morning -Make the grandparents' gifts with the kids
Thank goodness I got all of my gifts made and wrapped for that gathering.
For next week I need to:
-Purchase a clock for DS1 -Print off the kids' homemade coloring books and comic book templates -Put all of the gifts in the fabric bags and under the tree -Bake our Christmas birthday cake -Make the breakfast casseroles for Christmas morning -Plan and make Christmas Eve dinner -Finish making my mother's gift -Bake our cookies for Santa -Buy stuff for DH's stocking
For family gathering the following weekend:
-Finish baking for gift baskets -Finish printing off homemade coloring books for the cousins -Plan/make a meal for Friday
Here's my list: Everything. Oh, sorry- no, we put up a (note singular) string of lights outside yesterday so the neighbors didn't start to worry and the tree is in the stand but not decorated. Presents? Oh, that's funny....
Today I'm going to the candy shop to get my mom her favorite candy for one of her gifts, and a friend of mine who is a Mary Kay consultant is supposed to be dropping off some stuff today that I ordered as gifts for my mom and MIL. After that, I'll have all of my gifts. On Saturday I am going to finish wrapping everything. We don't have any food to bring to any of our family gatherings. I've offered multiple times in the past and they always tell me not to worry about it, so I'm lucky there.

Oh boy. I have lots to do. Talk to SIL about our gifts for each others families (we're doing a "gift of time" thing) Buy DS's gifts (bike seat and helmet, some more cloth diapers) Get Santa pic (tonight) Put Santa pic in Christmas card and get those printed Deliver cards/cookie tins (see AW post) to friends Print song sheets for caroling at nursing home on Sunday More baking (for ourselves) Decorate the tree
Umm I'm probably missing something. Thanks for helping me get organized! I love lists.
I'm with you. I'm actually losing sleep, then I remembered that I'm going to my parents for the weekend to do Christmas with my brother and his kids. %#*!?*#%^!!!!!!
Yep, in the same boat. We have decorations up but I have bought nothing - no presents, no food, nada, and we're going to my folks as well to do a pre-Christmas thing, so there goes the weekend go get ready.
I like that gift of time idea, except, well, I have none. DH will probably be getting print-outs of all of the stuff I order from Amazon that I can't get delivered in time, and the rest of the family ... well, we gave them a beautiful grandson/nephew.
I have so much to do on Friday and Saturday, and dh will be at work. So I have to do it myself. I need to finish shopping for dh, I need to come up with an idea for MiL. I need to make crafts for our grandmothers. We still haven't seen Santa. I have to help my mom finish shopping for all the grand kids. She better buy me lunch.... And dd said she wants a jack in the box, so I need to find one. I need to bake cookies too. Oh, my SIL is being induced tomorrow (4 weeks early) so now I have a nephew to shop for .
I feel stressed just reading a lot of this! I say simplify where you can, as much as you can so we moms can enjoy the holiday too!
We don't do gifts w/ my husband's side except for our nephew and a cousin secret Santa w/ the kids and I still need to get that. I also need to get my nephew, nieces and parents taken care of. But we are doing both families the weekend after Christmas so I kind of feel like I have a lot of time still, but I would like to be done before Christmas if possible.
The main thing I am under the gun on right now is angel tree kids. We have 2 and I am also shopping for MIL's 2 and shopping for an out of town friend who has one and is just sending money...and helping finish off another friend's one she has. And we adopt a family with my husband's side so still need to help with that as well. Hoping to wrap that up tomorrow or Friday.
I think I am making banana bread for the neighbors, but may give up at the last minute and get them all fair trade Christmas ornaments. Actually, I think that is exactly what I will do.
And I guess I do have a few things to cook for but not too much - a potluck on Saturday night, potluck on Christmas day (maybe 2, jury's still out on that). I may look for a healthy breakfast casserole for Christmas morning. That's a good idea actually. I started cleaning up my diet and working out 13 days ago so I am not baking/cooking a bunch of traditional things as my husband is trying to do better too.
Anywho, the most stress I have is figuring out what to get my parents who buy themselves what they want when they want it and always say they don't need anything (which is true) but give us a ton.
I must like the adrenaline rush as I don't have the "kick it into high gear" thing going yet.
We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013. We love her to pieces.
We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011. She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.
Oh, and I need to take care of DH! We often do not give each other stuff, and I would prefer we never did. But I kind of want to get him some basketball tickets for his college team as he works so hard and all his free time is with us right now. But they are expensive (it would be 5 weekend games) so still trying to decide. Not great seats.

Uh, mine is ridiculous. It's basically, do everything. We have no tree yet, nothing is wrapped, no food has been purchased for Christmas dinner, and the house is a mess. And I still haven't finished my shopping. Ho, ho, ho, let's go!!
