Introduction

Hi ladies,

I have been lurking for about a month and have responded on a few threads but thought I should "introduce" myself :)

My name is Pejay, I live in Texas.  I am preggo with DD#2 and DD#1 is 17 months old.  DD#1 was breached so we c-sectioned and will do so again with this one ~ currently scheduled for 1/20.  Overall I have been blessed with 2 great pregnancies and definitely don't want to complain however this one just seems far more exhausting than the last.  haha-it may be that I have a toddler to chase around this time!

I never thought I would want a winter baby because maternity leave in the Spring/Summer seems far more fun than the winter (who wants to brave the cold, rain, & snow with a newborn?!).  But...I must admit I am really enjoying the clothing options and the temperature a lot better with a winter baby!

I feel like I won't make it to 1/20 with this one - no reason why just a feeling but I hope I do so her birthday can be as far separated from Christmas as possible-hopefully she wont get "lumped".

Anyways, thanks for providing me with both entertainment and useful information.  Let me know if you have any questions; I am happy to answer.

  • Welcome! I am warm natured normally, so I was always terrified of being very pregnant in the summer. I agree that I prefer being at the end in the winter time! I think I'm more comfortable than I would be otherwise!
  • I just did an intro too after "lurking" around here for a couple weeks! So hi, fellow newbie!

I just found out that I'll be induced next Thursday, 12/26, and I'm definitely worried about my LO's birthday being "lumped" with Christmas! I've already told my husband that we'll be celebrating his half birthday every June, to which I just get a you're-nuts eye roll and laugh. We'll see who wins... :)

Welcome! But I seriously LOL'd about your assessment of winter since you live in Texas. Come to NY with me and let's talk about how miserable it is to be pregnant in the winter. A button on my coat popped off this morning. Also, I can't bend over to lace my boots up. (Don't think I'm being mean to you, I'm just playing around). :)

  • @Sarajo430 - thanks and welcome to you too!  I think we all know you will win that one :)  Good luck next Thursday; you will do great.

@sugarland726 - thanks and touché!  My winter is a wimp compared to yours - DD#1 was a summer baby in TX heat so really this 100% beats that!  And, for what it is worth: I didn't buy myself a maternity winter coat so until a week or so ago was squeezing my poor baby bump into a non maternity jacket and have finally conceded I am too large to do so but at this point am also refusing to buy one because I don't think I will get my money's worth out of it.  I also have given in to my Ugg's as they are slip on's because there is no way I could lace anything up either :)  DH pries them off my swollen feet at the end of the day.  haha :)

I have to assume pregnancy in Texas in the summer is just as miserable as pregnancy in the North in the winter. My DD was born in a heat wave in July, but I bet it's nowhere near the temperatures and the discomfort you felt with yours. We'll call it even ;)

Oh and I totally didn't buy a maternity coat either. So expensive, even though I'd use it every day. I'm just squeezing my fat ass into my old pea coat. I already didn't button the bottom button, and now I have to sew on the top button again.

@AndyLeah - I can't remember where in Canada you are. We're supposed to get another dumping of ice, snow, and hail this weekend. Not looking forward to it, especially with all the contractions I've been having. Welcome OP!
@jessicabcairns I'm in the Greater Toronto Area (Mississauga). I heard on the radio something about 20-30 cm? But isn't it going to rain Friday or something? WTF?

@pejay were you affected by the crazy Dallas/Fort Worth freak snow storm a couple of weeks ago?

  • @jessicabcairns YAY! The snow I can handle, freezing rain and hail... not so much!

I did an intro pretty recently, too.  :)  Glad to see I'm not the only newbie.  Hi and welcome!

My husband's birthday is 12/26 and he is a major Grinch about it, but all of a sudden he keeps saying he hopes the baby comes on his birthday.  I throw him an "Unbirthday" party every year since his day gets overruled by the holidays.  He loves the extra attention, even though he claims I am being silly.

  • @cherryc9105: That's hilarious! I'm sure your husband really does appreciate the gesture. MH and his family were hoping our baby would come today because it's his dad's birthday, while my grandma hopes he waits until her birthday, December 28. Apparently everyone wants to share their special day with the new baby!
