Greasy hair?

My hair is so gross. I've gone from washing it like twice a week to every day hoping that it isn't so greasy but that doesn't seem to be doing it. I'm so lazy with my hair to begin with so this isn't helping. Any one know anything that helps? TIA

Re: Greasy hair?

  • Try a dry shampoo. It'll get you through to your next wash. I use it if I wake up late. Since my second trimester started, though, my hair has been very dry!

  • Mine has actually been super dry. I have gone from every day to every other day to every 3 days in between washes. But yeah try dry shampoo!
  • I've had greasy hair my whole life. I have to wash my hair everyday. When I was in high school my hair dresser told me if I just put conditioner on the ends of my hair instead of my scalp it would help. I've been doing that ever since and it has helped.

I would also try the dry shampoo. My hair has gotten so greasy. My hair stylist suggested I use this tea tree shampoo and conditioner because it helps balance the pH in your scalp so it doesn't get too dry or greasy. You might try that one! I bought the Regis brand from the salon but I'm sure there are others.

  • Mine was crazy greasy during the 1st tri, and now I can go a week without getting greasy, which is just as weird for me. *shrug*
I just showered every second day, and wore my hair up on the days I didn't, haha. I've been known to use baby powder to help though, and it works great.

  • @Beckypooh09 the fact you only had to wash your hair twice a week to begin with is so unfair! Lucky girl!!  I considered myself fortunate to be an every other day washer!! BUT I know so many girls who are crazy greasy even non-preg!! I am more concerned about my pimples....they just wont STOP! need a cure for that... :)

  • I'm with the rest of the posters get yourself some dry shampoo you will not regret it:)
  • I use Klorane dry shampoo it's a little expensive but it is the only one that works in my greaseball of a head lol and smells good too!
  • I use the suave brand dry shampoo, it's the best that I have found. But I also realized that this weekend, I didn't wash my hair for 4 days. OOPS! lol

This... I can go days. .. Hey I'm not working right now don't judge. I used to have to wash every day. I think it's been three days since I washed it and it still is dry as can be.

  • Mine has been SUPER dry. I used to wash it every other day. Now it's like 1-2x a week. It's weird how much pregnancy messes with your body.
  • I also use the suave brand, silver bottle and yellow cap. Cheap and does the trick. Mine is actually a bit more dry than it was before I was pregnant. I have gone from every other day wash to every 3 ... and sometimes 4 but day 4 is not pretty. SAHM perks!

  • The same thing happened to me when I got off birth control. Definitely hormones! So apple cider vinegar helped and tea tree oil shampoos. I also got a bottle of ICON detoxifying treatment from my hair stylist and that helped a lot. It will go away over time...it's jut super annoying to have freshly washed hair that appears greasy! Ugh!
  • I used to use the Oscar Blandi dry shampoo (Sephora sells it) and it smelled like old perfume. I wanted a spray one and hated the same brand in a spray. A girlfriend recommended the Suave one and I tried the silver with yellow spray (the other has keratin which I've read to avoid in pregnancy) and I LOVE it. I went from washing every day to every 2-4 days. It's super easy to use and smells like a tropical pineapple! For $2 you can't go wrong even if you don't like it! Go Suave (never thought I'd say that)
  • Also want to add that the suave adds a little body. I often prefer my 'do on a suave day over fresh washed now

washing it more actually tells your scalp to produce MORE oil.

  • Baby powder. If you have darker hair, try mixing a little bronzer with the powder. Rub your scalp really well and then brush and blowdry.

Agreed. This is the first time in my life I haven't had to wash it every day. I usually skip a day or two now, which is so weird for me!

  • My hair has been super greasy since college. Dry shampoo helps but is only a quick fix. My hair dresser told me to mix about a nickel sized amount of baking soda with clarifying shampoo. It helps a lot!
  • That is so weird that i am opposite. I have always had greasy hair and face but this time getting pregnant i only have to wash my hair every 3 days! I am enjoying it while i can. It is so weird how out hormones act differently.
